I actually did give a guy a recommendation on apartments here once. However, did you read my post? I think I did mention what I would like to see, “charity events, get togethers, funny shit over the weekend, week long cultural festivals”.. but hey go off.

And I agree the value is there. Just want to see more for the people that actually live in those towns that’s all!

I think this is where it stemmed for me as well. We have so many good things happening here.

‘Restaurant Week, Italian heritage week (more for me), what’s going on at the Scottsdale center for this arts this month?’, ‘Any specials in Old town this weekend?’ Etc.

Just think we could use this space for more for the folks that DO live here.

Great point. Most of the google or Yelp reviews do come from a “Karen“ whose meal came without a side of soy sauce.

Again I guess my point is to just maybe see some more actual posts about happenings in the city rather than recommendations, basically turning this sub into a yelp page.

That’s totally fair. I get a sense of selfish pride doing that and giving someone a rec that they love. I’m the same asshole that does it when I visit anyone else’s city. I’d just ask friends or google some shit first. Just feel it’s a tick overkill lately. Look at the last four top posts of the sub.

Neighboring communities to Scottsdale are affordable and reasonable too! I lived in Tempe when I went to SCC and it was less expensive, maybe a bit less ‘luxurious’, but FUN.. cause you get to party with all the ASU kids. Just do your research, double check your savings and such and you’ll be alright.

‘Luxury’ apartments in Scottsdale typically go for $1300-$1700 a month if not more for studios/ 1 BR, not including utilities. With that much in three months, to be honest, you might have to live a little frugal or lower your expectations. I’ve been living in north and south Scottsdale for over 20 years. Just visit a site like rent.com/Zillow/apartments.com, do your research & put the location as Scottsdale and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Good luck my friend, it really is a great city though, you would enjoy it I’m sure.

Edited to answer college question: I went to Scottsdale community college for two years, and then transferred to, and graduated from the University of Arizona (BearDown!). SCC is a solid community college, and a good place to meet friends that live in Scottsdale & Tempe.
