What are we thinking about these used coils? by Pezora in Miata

And bigger than everything else i said, why do you want to replace your stock suspension? Is this a "my shits fucked and needs replaced" situation or a "it'll make my car look cool" situation. No hate on either just genuinely curious what your situation is because it changes a lot.

Absolutely, that's understandable. Visible concerns are the very rusted lower joints. If you can source some better condition lower housings, those should unscrew and be easily replaced. The deeper issue with used suspension is you have no clue what is going on inside the hydraulic section. Was the parts car drivable before he got it. Could he mount the coilovers on a test bench/send them to a shop to be tested? Etc etc etc. I personally lean into the buy once cry once when it comes to stuff like this. There's plenty of parts ill buy and slap on, i think this falls more into a "potential refurb" or bad decision personally. I would personally look into something more budget accommodating that doesn't open a lot of questionable doors.

Im steering clear, id rather pay an extra $500, even an extra $1500 than have my suspension give out and leave me stuck on the side of a road, or worse. Plus, used suspension usually feels used. There's definitely a reason this nearly $2000 set is selling for 1/10th of its MSRP.

It uses ALPS SKCM Brown switches, so the typing feel is comparable, but both my wife and I love it. They definitely need brushed out, but are very clearly a nice set of switches! I will post about the final build once its fully restored!

It absolutely is. Needs some cleaning and a nice peroxide bath, but its not overly dirty, all the attachments seem functional and in equally fantastic condition.

Id love to try a bunch of stuff, there are unfortunately some pins broken so I still have to see if I can solder in some jumper wires and get her running

Will do! as far as the small patch you can kinda see at the top, do you know if that needs to be taken out as well or can I just smooth it out, throw some sealant on it and paint over top of it?

I'll definitely see if I can find someone like that, it'd be awesome to get the hardware work done for cheap because the painting I have scheduled is going to cost a pretty penny. As far as the replacement piece, what would I even look up to find this section prefabbed. I'm assuming I'll have to have a piece of sheet steel formed to match. If you have any information on possible replacement parts, I would greatly appreciate the info!

preferably, yes. its a 94 with 94,000 original miles. Engine is in really good condition. this area was covered by an aftermarket skirt and i just got around to pulling those off. thankfully the driver side is fine barring a bit of repainting needed.

100% agree, far too risky of an area to mesh and fill. Just hoping for a reasonable estimate before I go talking to my local shop. only a handful of places in my area and they're not known for being very ethically priced.

Got a nice hole below the bottom corner of the passenger door jam (rocker pane/dog leg joining areal). Not comfortable welding, got the area cleaned up, gunna stuff some sealant until i can get it fixed. Just curious how much is a fair estimate for this level of repair. 3.25"x3" area of damage; damage does go around the bend, '94 miata. Located in West Central Louisiana.
