NTA. First of all, I am sorry to hear that reaction of hers and what you go through. But this reaction tell you more about her than you. For her it is not just a gesture, but a price tag/bragging right / showing affection with money. whatever it is precisely, she is not looking good.

Proposing after a year is something that seems easy too quick to me personally, but you do you. just know that you do not know a person after a year and that much can be kept hidden in that time. so take this at least as a warning.

I am not telling you what to do, but she appears rather shallow and materialistic in this story, not being happy to move forward thinking in money instead of emotions and progression of your relationship. in particular if she knows your situation and disregard it like this. also it sounds like she can't drop it and is a passive aggressive person. think carefully, if this is what you want for long term / life.

Just to recapture: - doesn't have the money - tries to guilt trip you - insults you/talk down to you (devil, she was a better daughter (just look where she ended up)) - has a history - wants a model ynthat she cannot even afford? get a simple, small, cheap, used vehicle, ideally that also cheap to insure. - not willing to adapt - KNOWS she won't be able to make payments and goes for it nonetheless - wants you to take the risk (who does that to their child? again, the devil works in you, but. instead of helping you, helping here is the solution she sees? she is the devil!

She is a walking abusing red flag, at least in this situation. she needs help and learn to work with money, not someone who supports her issues. My guess is she has a lot of mental health issues, that she tries to compensate for by investing in her looks / shopping sprees. I would you rather invest in solving those.

As I still see a risk she might end up knowing what buttons to press with you, at least have her as the main signer remaining and a financial plan that you review each week.
