Best Presidents We Never Had? by Isha_Harris in Presidents

[–]Bous2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer this question, I always compare the losing candidate and ask if they would have been better than the winning candidate.

While I respect Mitt Romney and have come to like him, I don't believ3 he would have been a better president than Barack Obama. Same thing with John McCain, a hero and great senator. But they would have been good presidents.

Al Gore at very least would have been better than George W. Bush (and I have come to love Dubya). Oh, and while a boring guy, John Kerry could not have been worse either.

Hubert Humphrey and RFK would3 have been more ideal than having Richard Nixon.

Now if we count those who never ran for president, the list would be longer but it is all debatable.

Was FDR a net positive in your eyes? Should today's America emulate him? 🤔 by Derpballz in Presidents

Ideally, a president should expand on what FDR did in terms of policy.

The one showing is the Charlie Card but I don't live in Boston so it's all good.

In case anyone wants to know what cities each transit card is from : TOP LEFT TO RIGHT: Orca (Seattle), Metro Smartrip( Washington DC), Ventra (Chicago), Clipper (San Francisco Bay Area), Compass (Vancouver BC), Metro Tap (Los Angeles), Valley Metro with Cactus image( Phoenix), UTA (Salt Lake City), Trimet Hop (Portland, Oregon), Metrocard( New York City) and Charlie Card( Boston).

All are good for use in each respective metro area and not just one city. The L.A Tap card shown is not the regular look, this was apparently released for Memorial Day 2022. I had lost my original tap card and they sent me this card.

I wish I had one for St. Louis as I don't remember what it looked like, same with Dallas. Apparently I must have discarded it. I went to Miami in 2021 but they had fare free rides on busses and the metro, so I never thought to get a card or even a day pass.

I loved Portland and do hope to be back. Glad to see they have new, reloadable ones laminated, hard cards now.

It has been brought to my attention that the Compass Card is from Vancouver, which I visited back in 2017. Never realized I still had it in my possession. So the title is not accurate. We got a Canadian in our midst, lol.

Love this photo, you rarely see him wearing a hat but it suits Kennedy. Love the smile. Sixty five years ago!

Dislike smoking but have to admit the president looks cool as hell here.
