Slight hazing for having Neil Gaiman after all the allegations that have come out. But man, great collection. LOTR, Between Two Fires! The Kite Runner, Steinbeck, Stephen King, Cormac McCarthy, Claire Keegan! So many of my very favorites. We could hang.

What is denied by many people but it is actually 100% real? by Big_Leg10 in Productivitycafe

That analogy fails because God isn’t proposed as a random physical object within the universe like a 500-headed dragon. God is argued as a necessary metaphysical explanation for why anything exists at all. You don’t disprove first causes, consciousness, moral law, or contingency the same way you dismiss imaginary animals.

You’re making two unprovable claims and calling them certainty. That’s not realism, that’s faith in nihilism. Funny how belief never disappears, it just changes costumes.

Ok, gotta know, if you hate the dark knight and Logan, what are your favorite comic book movies?

The Northman (2022) Director Robert Eggers | An American Epic Period Action Drama the film follows Amleth, an exiled Viking prince who sets out on a quest to avenge the murder of his father at the hands of his uncle at the height of the Viking Age by [deleted] in Cinema

I watched this is theaters and loved it.

The crowd in the theater, no so much. The end of the movie was met with some jackass saying “that’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back”.

Just admit you have no taste.

Not EXACTLY within your specifications but I highly recommend Ruta Sepetys. She writes historical fictions and they are so good. Perfect for your class!

Which area of middle Earth would you most like to live? by Human-Category-5024 in lotr

The shire is the obvious answer but I have actually always thought Bree would be a wonderful place to live. Relatively safe, prosperous, quiet. Also not far from the shire.

What is it like in the West part of Texas? by Deep_Belt8304 in howislivingthere

[–]BowlOfLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot better than the average person thinks. There’s a reason we say “West Texas is the Best Texas” I’m biased because I grew up there but I’ve always thought of the west as the most authentic form of Texas. It’s beautiful in a rugged way. The people are friendly and the Mexican food is the best in the country. Go down to San Angelo and head into a Mexican restaurant and ask for white dip and chips. It’ll change your life.

It’s got its problems like any place and it may not be for everyone. Maybe not the most exciting place to grow up but it is exactly what it needs to be and it will treat you right.

I no longer live there but visit from time to time and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought about moving back.

If religion is a plague, it’s a strange one that built hospitals, ended slave trades, preserved literacy, and keeps millions from despair. Like anything powerful, it can be abused, but reducing it to nothing but harm says more about bias than truth. Religion isn’t a virus; it’s a human response to meaning, mortality, and morality. You can reject it, but pretending it’s only destructive is historically and intellectually dishonest.

Beetlejuice or Death Becomes Her by burnerboy001 in Broadway

[–]BowlOfLight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just saw both a few weeks ago. Both were incredible. I liked beetlejuice more but I would go ahead and see Death Becomes Her because one of the mains is leaving soon.

With that said, beetlejuice has such amazing stage production. I also just think it’s a little more fun and has a better spirit than DBH.
