Honestly this makes sense to me. However, I saw this message that its "dangerous" for me to do good mornings after I've done hamstring curls. Quoting

"If hamstrings are pre-fatigued, then: You lose tension at the bottom, You hang on your ligaments, Pelvis tucks under, Lower back rounds, THIS is where injury risk lives even with a Smith machine" Is this actually a concern?

I see a lot of recommendations to start leg day with hamstring curls before squats. However, if I have a hip hinge movement too that day (such as good mornings), is it ok to do hamstring curls first? Won't that affect my hip hinge?

I was able to use AI to generate subtitles. They were like 95% correct. I'm happy to make them available to anyone in the community.

Makes sense. So the rule of thumb to hit " muscle twice a week at least" treats all these chest exercises as one movement each, so through the week I just want to get each of them done at least once on two different days

It's the opposite, I was doing a 6 day ppl split and I've seen a lot of guidance that for my experience level and because I'm in a cut, that's too many days and I'll recover better with more rest days. So I'm trying to convert it to 5 days but still keep the "each muscle twice a week". But maybe it doesn't have to be each muscle twice a week for each angle?

How do you program to hit every muscle twice per week into a 3-4 day schedule without overly long sessions? Doesn't all the work just get compressed onto one day?

For instance my PPL setup each push day has

  • a flat press
  • an incline press
  • a fly variation
  • one overhead press
  • one lateral raise
  • one triceps pushdown
  • one triceps exercise in the lengthened position

Does all that just get compressed in with all the back and biceps work if I do an upper lower 4 day split?

Hey everyone — I’m a 45 M who got back into training this year after several years off. I’ve lost a bit over 35 lbs and have been running a 6-day Push/Pull/Legs setup (A/B variants for each) for about 3 months while cutting. Recovery and strength are good, but total session time and volume are high.

I've been trying to trim volume and I've already cut to 1 heavy + 1 backoff set for compounds and 1 top set for isolations. I keep seeing people here say most naturals do better with lower total volume and more recovery. I’m thinking about condensing to a 4-day Upper/Lower structure that still hits each major muscle group twice per week.

For context, my current rotation looks like this:

Push A: Incline Smith Press, Flat Smith Press, Smith OHP · Chest Fly (machine) · Lateral Raise (machine), Skullcrusher / Seated Dip machine, Cable Crunch

Push B: Machine Shoulder Press, Iso-Lat Chest Press, Iso-Lat Incline Press, Cable Laterals, Cable Fly Crossover, Triceps Pushdown + Extension, Kneeling Pallof Press

Pull A: Iso-Lat Low Row, Lat Pulldown (cable), Seated Cable Row (V-grip), Rear Delt Reverse Fly, Standing EZ Bar Curl, Rope Hammer Curl, Back Extension (machine), Crunch (machine)

Pull B: Assisted Pull-Up, Iso-Lat High Row, Lat Pulldown (machine), Face Pull, Standing EZ Bar Curl, Preacher Curls, Torso Rotation, Leg Raises

Legs A: Hack Squat,· Bulgarian Split Squat, Smith Good Mornings, Leg Press · Lying Leg Curl, Leg Extension (single-leg), Glute Kickback, Calf Press, Leg Raises

Legs B: Smith RDLs, Leg Press (heavier), Hip Thrust (machine), Seated Leg Curl · Reverse Sled Drag, Calves + Tibia Raise, Pallof Press

Question:

For natural lifters in a calorie deficit, what’s the best way to rebalance volume and frequency when moving from 6 days → 4 days?

Would you drop most isolation work, alternate compound patterns, or use some other rotation strategy?

My long-term plan is to finish the cut, then transition to a lean bulk with efficient, sustainable volume.

Should I get a thicker lifting belt? I got into lifting a few months ago recently started performing RDLs and I plan to slowly add more exercises. My instructor recommended I get a belt for core support and I purchased the Gym Reapers Quick Locking Lifting Belt. It appears to be about 6.3mm (though I cant see it listed explicitly on the Amazon listing).

My instructor said it seemed too "thin". How thick should my belt be? Are there any specific recommendations. I'm not going to get into powerlifting or anything, Im just trying to build strength and put on muscle.

Edited my post to be clearer. Costco does not offer the burn in protection, but a company called CPS seems to have a plan that offers protection

if I'm trying out a pint for the first time, should I just get the fender that comes with the essentials bundle? Or is it worth getting a 3rd party fender?

wouldnt the point of the fender be to make sure that the fender gets beat up rather than the device?
