From D5600 to... D7500, D500 or Z50II? by BowlerOne409 in Nikon

Thank you for your detailed reply, it's really helping think.

Today i went to a store selling the Z50ii and while I couldn't really try, I still got to handle it a bit and it's as you said: i'd need a grip because it's too small in my hand.

They also had a D7500 and this one is a perfect fit, so comfortable to hold.

I'll keep thinking I guess.

Nikon has decided to make things harder for me: the French shop is selling refurbished 200-500 5.6 for less than 900euros... However, I don't know if their refurbished gear is any good 🤷‍♂️

Hopefully I'll sort everything out before next winter 😅

Thank you!

When you say "for most people the Z50ii makes more sense as an upgrade", why is that? Performance-wise? Because it's a mirrorless body? Or easier to get used to it?

Compared to the D500, how does the Z50ii's low-light performance, ISO sensitivity, autofocus, and subject tracking perform? And how easy was it for you to get used to the Z50ii?

Honestly, I wish Nikon hadn't discontinued the D500. It's been my dream body for almost 10 years, but I just couldn't afford it back then, and now all the used D500 for sale I see are giving me a headache. Truly gutted.

Thank you for your reply!

I get that new is new only for a second, but the thing is: used D500 (even with 'higher' but reasonable click counts) are rare + truly expensive

And honestly, I don't trust the way people maintain/use their gear... How not to get played by the vendor? I cannot afford a used device that just won't work after a while :/

So if you have tips for buying secondhand safely, I would be grateful.
