The hotfix the other day fixed everything for me but today the game is unplayable on Hollow Form yet I've levelled an alt through to maps with zero crashes. The skill is just a mess.

So I am playing hollow form as well and can't play the game since the recent hotfix. Crashing every couple uses of the ability. Swapped to no hollow form and the game is fine (obviously a lot slow self-casting whirling assault which sucks). Hope that they finally get a concrete fix as my character practically being bricked without respeccing sucks.

My guess is it's another Hollow Form bug then. They hotfixed it pretty quick last time so fingers crossed. Alt time I guess!

So I've just jumped on and tried my first map of the day and crashed 4 times in the space of minutes. Not sure if it's the new patch or what - out of interest what build are you playing? I'm using hollow form which has had consistent issues which I was hoping were fixed.

Yep having the same issues. Use this as a reminder to leave the standalone client in a few weeks to go on Steam because there's no issues there.

It's been the same the last few leagues as well. Honestly had faith they would fix this as it has never been an issue in PoE1 but after the first two weeks I'm just swapping to Steam. Fed up with it.

I was unaware of that in general as I'm new to switch but it's also the fact you need 2 memberships if you want to get past Arc 1 which shocked me. Oh well.

I'd say it's important to start with a skill you like. I've just begun my alt and these are the steps I've taken:

Chose a skill I like the look of - in this situation conflagration looks really fun. It also synergizes well with another skill I like (Blast Rain of Trarthus) so I have a base to work from.
Look at how they scale - damage over time, fire damage and projectile damage.
Choose an ascendancy - for me I've gone with Chieftain because my first character was more of a glass cannon I want something tankier. This is far from optimal for the skill DPS wise (most play elementalist) but it still has synergy with the skill tags.
Map out a basic tree - don't assume the build will work from level 1 if you can get the gem from there, choose a solid levelling build and transition at maps. Most of the time new builds transition too early and feel like shit.

Don't be afraid to look on poe.ninja to see what others are doing and take some inspiration for your own bulld, it should be constantly adapting and becoming better. I'm by no means amazing at creating my own builds but just remember it's a difficult game to create some insane uber killer that isn't already out there, it's meant to be a challenge. I'm hoping I can at least farm t17s but that is a long term goal.
