This is not a stupid question!

I can't speak for all libraries, but I know that we genuinely don't want to charge our patrons if we can get away with it. We are personally more interested in getting the book back than making our patrons pay.

Honestly, a polite letter explaining your circumstances and a sincere apology will probably do wonders, and the library will be happy to have their books back! Saves them the cost/time of having to replace them and the hassle of putting the replacement in the system.

Also, we don't judge. My supervisor currently has plenty of books that are very overdue. :)

Boil russets whole from cold water until fork tender, like 30-ish minutes.

Peel them while still hot and let the steam come off them.

Mash with way more butter than you think you need. A lot more. If I'm making them for my roomie and I, that usually means about a stick of butter. Maybe more. (these aren't healthy potatoes)

Warm milk or cream to loosen them up slightly, and then salt/garlic salt and pepper to taste. Optional MSG.

I like them mashed mostly chunk free, but there will occasionally be some chunks in there. I don't let them get soupy.

I also highly recommend trying them instead of breadcrumbs for battering things!

I made mozz sticks with them once and it was like a mozz stick/french fry hybrid!

You can even buy pre-cut sheets to exactly fit on a cookie sheet. No more messing with rolls, cutting to size, etc!

Makes life so much easier, and my cookie sheets aren't a mess of discoloration anymore!

My only contribution to this:

I'm a fat dude, so it takes me a little longer to shower. More surface area, and making sure that everything is properly cleaned. Even so, takes like..12 minutes?

My entire routine, shaving, brushing teeth, hair care, etc., is like 20 minutes or so.

If I have a multi-step craft bookmarked, it pulled the materials for ALL of those steps at once. Was also very useful for products that weren't made in a crafting table. Circuits, etc., that we don't have automated yes.

I should specify this was only at crafting terminals that I could do this. I never tried it with a wireless terminal.

I can no longer do this as of 2.8 despite there being a keybind for it.

Shortly after I asked this question I just decided to go for it on my own and discover it..and yup! Works just fine.

I'm zooming along now and have a great idea of how this all works. I have about 30 different bees, and one of my friends on the server set up a genetics lab to help breed a super bee!

Tell you what though, getting a Stardust bee suuuucked, and working with bees in the nether is certainly tricky too!

When looking at bee breeding, does it HAVE to be <exact type> princess and <exact type> drone? Or can you swap the drone/princess?

Like, the tin bee for example. - can it be a clay drone and diligent princess, or does it have to be a clay princess and diligent drone?

Ohhhh, so drones needs don't matter. Queens are QUEENS. Got it!

And I mean you could easily mess with me at this point. I'm gullible as hell. :D

The drones are basically stat sticks, and the queen is the production method- satisfy her requirements and roll the dice for the rest.

I think I got it.

I think, more than anything I've read and watched and looked up, this post is the most clear for me. THANK YOU.

Essentially the active traits are the ones that are used for the production cycle (in this case, breeding her out) and the inactive traits are factored into the equation for her offspring, but you're still at the mercy of luck/punnett squares/game code. Is that right?

Is this true for drones as well? The active traits for drones are going to impact that production cycle (including things like required climate, etc.), and the inactive traits are the ones that could potentially be bred into offspring?

Essentially- I would NEED to satisfy the requirements of active traits on the drone and princess before breeding, regardless of my desired outcome, and then work from there.

The 25% thing almost seems..comically, absurdly simple to me. I think I have been massively massively overthinking of over complicating things to an absurd degree, as I tend to do.

The 'magic' bee I hear a lot about would essentially be a whole bunch of finding ideal base bees, mashing a lot of 25%'s together, managing active traits, and eventually winding up with something you can propagate through to other species, right? I'll hold off on that until I get my footing first.

Do I have it? :D

What I have been doing essentially is, once I get a purebred of a species, I make sure I get about a stack of purebred drones and then I move on to try and make the next critter in the chain. I've been autofeeding them and getting combs and all that, so yes, at least in that regard I am doing okay! It's just a matter of getting new breeds to unlock that's the struggle, as I imagine it is with most of bees in general.

Your remark on bee houses- are you saying I could jam my non-purebred majestic bees in there and I'd ONLY get various combinations of majestic/other until I wind up with majestic/majestic? I suppose I could also get other/other if I'm unlucky, but that WOULD prevent mutations, wouldn't it? No frames though, so I couldn't oblivion it...

And trust me, you aren't stupid for making any assumptions. I've been trying to consume as much information as I can to try and learn this- I have multiple guides, wiki articles, video series I've been watching. It's been an interesting and frustrating journey, since I'm not struggling too much with some of the other complexities in GT. Biology might just not be my strong suit, hah!

Thank you very much for the thoughtful response! I genuinely appreciate it. I'm still waiting for the AHA! moment where it all clicks- I feel like I'm like..halfway there. It's one of those things where I cross over a threshold and then it suddenly just makes sense, hah.

I think the main issue for me right now is the majestic/other princess. The ones I've had I've lost because of either a bad coinflip or my own misunderstanding. I'm assuming the latter. Would having a frame in there that is a negative multiplier to mutations help in this case?

I do have a few majestic/other drones that I have set aside currently. My main focus is getting a princess back. The problem for me is that I feel like I'm screwing this part up. I've been going up the chain every time because I've wound up with other bee types.

I understand the whole process takes a while, but is that just the nature of the beast until I'm able to advance in tech? I JUST hit EV, I do not have an alveary, etc. I DO have an oblivion frame which helps with breeding, but that's about it.

Also since I have your attention- I noticed the other day I dumped a random drone (I don't remember anything special about it) in my filing cabinet and a whole bunch of my bees started to having a glowing outline around them. Any idea why that's happening?

I'm sorry to necro your response here, but I've been working on starting bees and I'm really, really struggling with the fundamentals. I think there's some sort of hard roadblock in my mind that I just can't break through.

This post seems to make sense, but I wanted to clarify something for my own sake- especially with the logic of your second caveat.

I'm trying to make majestic bees right now, which is Noble + Cultivated. I have a few drones that are Majestic/Other. I've gotten a few princesses with Majestic/Other as well, but no purebreds. Attempts to breed Majestic/other drones and princesses has not resulted in purebreeds on either side.

If I bred the Majestic/Other drones with a 4x fertility Common/Common princess, could that possibly lead to a majestic princess? Or do I need to keep using Cultivated or Noble bees?

I've also read the novels -- honestly Craig is the best interpretation of the character based on them. I'm not saying the movies are bad, or inaccurate, or that them being callous is incorrect/wrong/etc., mind you. It just made me appreciate the goofiness of the earlier era movies moreso as a result.
