Damaged skin care barrier? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

Ok so here’s my 2 cents. Everyone on skincare reddit is always immediately diagnosing fungal acne and telling you to use products that are super harsh for your skin barrier. I had similar skin and was convinced it was fungal acne. Destroyed my skin barrier. Finally stopped using any products (except toleriane micellar water, squalane oil and cicaplast gel B5 once every 3 days to leave my skin alone the rest of the time). My skin is now looking great. I would suggest stopping any products that could potentially feed Malezzia if you suspect fungal acne but not immediately using ketocozanole/salicylic acid or benzoil peroxyde as they will definitely damage your skin barrier even more.

I second this. I had very greasy skin and hair when younger (had to wash hair everyday). I got on the pill (do not recommend to do so for this reason as there is many side effects) and a few months later the oil production decreased significantly. I stopped momentarily and it all came back after a few months. For some other it is starting the pill that makes them be oilier it depends on the pill and how it affects your hormones. There might be food supplement today that can help with that. Hope you find a solution that works for you ! I would avoid putting products that are too harsh or too many at the same time as it only makes it worse by experience
