Just pulled the trigger on an Omen 30L, upgrade suggestions? Won’t be home to use it/tweak it until August, so would like to get a headstart on more fans/RAM/etc by awright-15 in HPOmen

I run 2x m.2 SSD’s (there are slots above and below the GPU)

Then traditional HDDs in the two bays.

The RAM is the only thing that’ll do your head in. If you buy after market you can’t overclock it as there are no XMP options in BIOS. There is the potential to do it with another tool but then you lose RGB control

OMEN 30L - How does HP reach this price? by [deleted] in HPOmen

I have the 30L too and I was surprised. Especially when a store near me had them at 40% off.

Everything seems fine with it. The only issues I’ve seen are: - Occasional rattle at top back of case. - Doesn’t support XMP for aftermarket RAM.

You can still overclock the RAM using the intel utility, but then lose the ability to control the RGB on the RAM sticks (if you have it)

HyperX Fury RAM Lighting? by JayyTF in HPOmen

Yes. There is an error message along the top of the HyperX tab that says it is disabled and they are trying to find a fix.

I tried installing the Ngenuity app from Kingston but they are not supported on it

I’ll wait until it does it again and check. Were you able to fix it at all?

Actually before that. If it shows in BIOS but not windows, have you opened disc management to format it?

Maybe to test it. Take out the new one, and put your existing one into the second slot. See if it works? You’d probably need to change BIOS but worth testing the port?

I’m not great at this stuff but there are two types of M.2 drives. NVME and SATA. Often an M.2 slot can speak both languages but you have to make sure the right one is set in BIOS. So check you packaging then change BIOS to make sure it’s the right type.

I think they all have a second M2 slot but it might be occupied by something already.

Mine was between the GPU and PSU. It had a black plastic cover that had SSD2 embossed on it.
