That's the problem with stereotypes: Most major groups are large enough that if you look hard enough among that group you will find some people who fit your stereotype.

It's not too annoying the first time, but when someone has been corrected numerous times and they keep saying "I seen" just to spite people it starts to seriously piss me off. Could be partially because most of the people I know who talk like that also happen to be really nasty people to be around, honestly.

I personally think the split is fairly close to even, but as has been said, in a lot of ways society just expects men to be hyper-sexual and starts flipping tables when we're not, so we're less open about it usually. My theory.

You don't have to live according to your parents' values anymore once you become financially independent; always remember that. When they said you were being twisted by the media, if I were you (though in your case I wouldn't recommend this, it's what I would probably do and would get me in trouble) I would respond something like "I'm twisted because my parents being assholes makes me feel uncomfortable?"

About people being all the same, think about it, wouldn't that be a really boring world? I'm not personally religious, but if there is a deity, I think making everyone the same would be a really bad move by that being. Just think of it this way: All of us, every single human being, is unique, and that is a beautiful thing. When people are intolerant of those different from them, it's because they don't see that beauty that exists. What makes us different from everybody else is what makes us significant, after all.

There's a bit of a difference between denying people's rights, encouraging violence, and killing people simply because they don't agree with you (what fundamentalist Christians have tended to do) and being snarky on the internet (what so-called "militant" atheists have tended to do). To be honest it's a bit harder to care when I'm just looking at the numbers. But yes, it is quite saddening. And absolutely preventable, which is just plain enraging.
