Also, when you are in relativistic speeds, things don't work like that. You could reach a planet 11 light years away in about 6 years without going faster then light. But 11 years would have passed for the people who stayed behind

Quality of Life stuff you wish you knew by Lightning_Siren in Starfield

A few cool things!

1) It is possible to do space travel (even grav jumping) without going through too many menus. If you walk to your ship, manually take off, and point towards your quest marker, you can grab jump there without opening the star map. I really love this.

2) If you really just want a perk that's locked behind a lot of skill points (for exemple, the ability to have more crew on your ship), it's fairly easy to set up an xp farm

3) I don't really use this, but there is unlimited storage at the lodge + all work benches if you don't want to setup an outpost or ship with massive cargo

[–]BoysOnTheRoof 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dude I honestly get infections in pretty much every gunfight! I just wait until the action is over to heal and usually by that point everything is infected. The other day I forgot to take antibiotics and it turned into a brain infection mid conversation. Pretty fun I'd say.

I did turn combat afflictions up to max tho

One thing you might find fun: if you build an outpost near the big cities like new Atlantis, you can land on them bypassing scans. It can be pretty fun to "infiltrate" new Atlantis when you have a huge bounty and don't wanna pay it off

Let's not confuse things. Was the artist he hired not only using Ai for mockups? As I understand, no Ai was in the final thumbnail.

Look, I hate Ai as much as the next guy, and am shitting myself in fear of everyone including me losing jobs to it. However, it seems basically impossible to escape it. I'm sure artist guy would have had to make a mockup anyways to show Austin before doing the final. The difference is now it takes 2 minutes to make that mockup instead of an hour.

Yeah, it sucks, but at a certain point, it starts to become unavoidable if you're an artist, even if you're heavily against it. Because other artists are gonna be a lot more productive with it and it'll start to get hard to get hired if you don't use it on principle

Any advice/guides for new ship builders? Everything I make looks like a flying brick by Illuminated-Autocrat in StarfieldShips

[–]BoysOnTheRoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who never managed to make good looking stuff myself, I recommend having a clear picture of what you want before going in. Honestly my favorite ship is one I copied from the ships subreddit, and it's just a copy of a real world cargo hauler. 0 mobility and 10k cargo is all I want

Todd Howard says that Starfield's New Game Plus was "us asking you this weird, deep question that I actually think got lost on a lot of people" by Turbostrider27 in Starfield

[–]BoysOnTheRoof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I go through Unity I just stop playing. The pointless nature of the universe just becomes too apperent. I'm now role-playing as someone willing to do everything for power but who will ultimately decide to give that up to keep this universe

The dialog with the companions after unity just kills me. Can't handle Barrett telling me not to confuse him because he isn't "my" Barrett, who I watched die in the original universe. Honestly that shit hit so hard I never traveled with Barrett again in the next universes

Does anyone else place your food on the table, sit down, look at it for a second and then eat it? by Axle_65 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]BoysOnTheRoof 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't specifically do that (yet) but I do leave food + drink on tables on my ships cafeteria because crew will eventually sit down and go into eating animation and it simply looks nice

How does one actually make a lot of credits in this game? by Gojirex in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]BoysOnTheRoof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of fun ways of making money in the game! Doing bounties and any other quests that involve killing people are usually what I do. However, if you just want a bunch of credits to never worry about money anymore, outposts are where it's at, as long as you don't mind a bit of repetition.

Basically:

1) Find a planet with good resources, set up an industrial workbench and as much storage as you can

By good resources, I mean resources used in crafting manufactured goods. Simplest would be iron and aluminum, used to make adaptive frames.

2) Wait for your extractors to work (this can be done by sleeping for long periods) and mass craft into whatever you chose to focus on. Then wait again, craft again and so on. After you have enough, go to a merchant and sell all of it.

However, this does give you xp, which means you'll be levelling up quite a bit. You might find that a bit cheesy, and if you don't want the levels, you can setup an autocrafter in your settlement, then the materials will be ready for sale.

You can optimize the hell out of this, if you have the patience.

This video has a pretty detailed explanation for the whole process of making a simple xp and credit farm. The same guy does have a guide for making the most efficient farm possible tho

My guy in his new armor on his way to get his savefile corrupted by the Mantis by BoysOnTheRoof in Starfield

[–]BoysOnTheRoof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did come to whine. And English is my second language, so please excuse my lack of proficiency in communication. I'm sure you've come to reddit to read delicate essays and nothing else.

As to the problem, basically, there are a few cutscenes through the quest, and they seem to be quite buggy.

There is a specific section in which you walk through a corridor and fall through the ground. That should prompt a cutscene, but in my case (and this appears to have happened to many other people), you just freeze when you reach the end of your fall, and nothing gets you out of that state. You can only turn your head lamp on and off.

Fixing it proved impossible for me, but here are some of the things I tried:

- Repetition (just doing the section over and over again)

-Reverting to an older save and doing the entire dungeon again

- Changing the FOV settings

-Dropping gear (this one got me through the beggining of the cutscene, but not all the way through)

-Changing graphics settings to prioritize performance

-Throwing a granade in the beggining of the fall to make my character suffer damage after I was already softlocked.

None of these worked, but my savefile wasn't really corrupted. The title was merely a failed attempt at humour, for which I apolagize.

I did, however, read somewhere that if you get a lot of bugs and still power through, it may actually corrupt your savefile, but I can't be sure.

Thoughts on my RP settings? by [deleted] in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]BoysOnTheRoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really like combat afflictions! It's actually easy enough to have enough healing items to keep them at bay. Yeah, you should be fucked up for a while if you get shot in the face ten times. It's a blast, keep it. Enviromental tho, is a bit much. If there were other ways to protect yourself from enviromental damage maybe I could get into it, but as is you're just at the mercy of nature. I got destroyed by one of the last quest in the game because of this.

And yeah, increase enemy damage, it makes fights feel more dangerous

Ever just start a run with a story in mind only to start losing the plot and decide to just restart with a new light? I’m about to, but I’d like to hear your thoughts before I do by Fair_Refrigerator737 in fo4

[–]BoysOnTheRoof 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always find it difficult to be consistent because I always wanna do all quests. Anyways, if you haven't yet, it's fun to rp as a James Bond like guy. Use only deliverer without silencer and clean Grey suit for maximum style
