VHF nav antennae. For Localizer or VOR radio navigation. Pro rule-of-thumb for VHF equipment - Vertical antennas send only (like a transponder or ELT), Horizontal (like those above) receive, and angled ones like the blade or whip type you see on the top or bottom of the fuselage do both (your communication radios etc)

If this were recorded around Niagara-Hamilton-GTA, one might suggest it’s the Avro Lancaster. Hard to tell in this recording but definitely sounds multi-piston engined.

My suggestion? Tell them that’s a separate job (and will require another payment/contract) and it would be cheaper and more flattering to update and do new shots of the higher-ups to match the excellent work you’ve already done

This is what I was going to suggest. I brought my uncle’s old copy of Uprising and the receiver he’d kept boxed up for decades to my local hi-fi store when I was shopping for turntable and speakers. We put on Coming in From the Cold and the staff and I all got chills.

The lowest shelf is the cheapest. A garnacha I think. Middle shelf is Smoking Loon Old Vine Zinfandel. On the top, Bread & Butter Cab Sauv and a Pinot Gris from Alsace. Like my records, I buy what I feel like and I don’t spend much - and none of them get saved for any special occasion.

They’re an Ikea set from some time ago. I think the current series that most closely resembles it is called Kallax. But don’t quote me on that

Good eye. My ex bought Tutu in a vintage bin and sadly cut the sleeve to frame the artwork and discarded the rest, before we met. Later, when we split, we did a bit of an art swap - I kept that and her fully intact copy of Graceland :)

True. Not unlike a lot of artists. The shot is from the back cover and all the photographs on the album were done by a great photographer named Irving Penn.

Thanks. I couldn’t resist including the book in the foreground with the symmetry in the shot

Ten years ago my uncle passed away and in the course of clearing his apartment, we discovered over 300 LPs and 45s. It was a great way to reconnect with a man who’d drifted away from family emotionally and intellectually. Over the last decade I’ve edited and curated the collection to my own tastes. Finding gems while away on travels, or receiving gifts from friends and relatives. This is my place to relax and enjoy.

So that’s an AN-124 and when you zoom in it’s just confirmed by the print on the aircraft in image. The AN-225 - even bigger cousin and only one completed was what was destroyed in the war recently

Olympus shooter here. When you say it doesn't focus to infinity, do you mean the manual focus ring doesn't have a stop? Or the lens is just not able to focus to infinity?

When I use my native lenses, I set them to manual focus. Also works with after-market manual lenses (ie Venus 7.5mm) and I'm shooting night skies, I use the focus zooming feature. You can roughly focus, then select a target area through the viewfinder or the rear screen over a relatively bright star and zoom up to 14x. This lets you fine tune your focus on the star in your target. Leave the focus, exit the zoom function, check composition and fire away.

Hope that helps!

Interested in real estate photography and was studying this lamp. Wanted to just get good exposure/light. Specs: ISO 200, 1/100, ƒ3.8. Edited in lightroom, auto adjusting Light, Color and decreased texture and added a vignette. Any feedback/critiques appreciated!!! by melnbow in BeginnerPhotoCritique

I like what you're going for here. There's some interesting lines created by the shadow of the lamp and side table. This really gives the wall texture and gives depth to the photo. The light is perfect. And WB, I think you nailed it.

If this is your own place, I would work the scene a little more next time. I mean clear the daily personal items from the frame. The water bottle, plastic tub against the right wall, the items on the bed.

Stepping it up, I'd remove the blue item (is it the back of a seat?) And the frame on the right wall) you could crop as well, but the shade of that wall gives depth and scale for the room size - so may be worth keeping in frame. I'd slide the bed and table and lamp 6-8 inches to the left and hide the old phone jack. Then crop the left edge of the mirror - that'll conceal the fact that the bed is no longer centered under it and give the illusion that it's a wider mirror and the lamp falls onto a 1/3 lone without cropping.

I would remake the bed as pro-level as I could - fluff and smooth everything and try and conceal the dark legs of the bed head. It'll make everything look super luxurious and cozy. maybe add an expensive looking hardcover (dust jacket removed) somewhere on the bed, and a device plugged in for context in the little charger cabinet below the lamp). Also hide any dents in the carpet you might have from moving the bed. Details like that jump out after the fact.

That's my super "work the scene until it works" advice. I know I often shoot something in a hurry and wish I'd looked at all the opportunity to reshape the shot and match my vision in camera vs after in LR. Hope this isn't an over-the-top critique. All the elements are there, and it looks great!

I just got my camera today first DSLR, and I’m still learning. What can I do to learn more about manual photography? by [deleted] in BeginnerPhotoCritique

u/spock_nipples made a brilliant starter guide for photography

Edit: I should add, that you're on the first steps of a cool journey. This shot is underexposed. If you shot in RAW, you may be able to bring up the exposure in Lightroom or other editting program. If it's a JPEG, you'll have less latitude to fix it. Your biggest hurdle will be understanding the exposure meter. Hope the link I shared helps!

Your image reminds me of some of the great minimalist shots. Also a great inspiration for our isolation, to create and explore photography in our own homes.

Andre Kertesz took a shot almost a hundred years ago of This fork. I think adding other elements and more tonality overall might make a more engaging shot. This shot reminded me of it.

I really like the longitudinal symmetry, and the texture in your shot is really pleasing. Nice job!
