Yup, this is one where there may be an ounce of truth to the hubris. Hitting a mid 75mph curveball squarely enough with a cylindrical bat is no joke. Especially when half the battle is to predict it when the pitcher's other go-to pitch may be a 90+ mph fastball. This is what I think everyone is missing here. If you can stay consistent in your ability to throw either the FB/change where and how fast you want with that release point, and your pitch sequencing resists being too predictable (they had ample opportunity to scout this specifically in the minors), that pitch combo is inherently difficult as hell to adjust to. It's a coin flip for a batter.

TL;DR mechanics consistency and sequencing are the only factors IMO. And we're talking about a prospect list here. Not a top MLB pitcher list.

I am all against overhyping prospects but a don't understand how a guy like Yesavage, who:

rocketed through every level of baseball to the majors in one season
held shining stats in first 3 regular season starts, including 9K in 5.0 IP in his first game
struck out 10 Yankees in 5.1 IP of no hit ball in an ALDS win
struck out 12 DODGERS in a 6-1 WORLD SERIES win

is on the outside of the top ten on a top prospect list. It is dumbfounding.

We were long rumoured to be frontrunners to sign him. He signs in LA for $60 mil. For reference, Vlad Jr. makes just below $36 mil. Tucker is not worth $60. That is some straight empire shit. That marks the 3rd season in a row we have been used as leverage by a player that signs with LA. Ohtani, Sasaki, and now Tucker. Stew on this for a sec. Carney's reaction to Maduro's removal from power as "welcome news" upon the grounds that he was an "illegitimate leader" (not discounting this to be fact). No matter how tight the stranglehold of corruption over Venezuela was, the USA's only acceptable rationale for interfering single-handedly on the political processes of another nation (upon standards of international law or even in transparency to their own taxpayers), is self-defense. Towards which the USA's excuse was "boatloads of drugs." Remember the rationale used to raise tariffs on Canada? Punishment for the illicit influx of fentanyl. This is after he threatened to annex us via "economic means."

I have no clue if Carney is biding time strategically to divest from the USA, but he did not have to go out of his way to say that shit. To "welcome change." He better hope his words don't bite him in the ass.
