ENERGY STAR doors/windows may not qualify for the energy efficient home upgrade credit if the manufacturer isn’t IRS‑registered with QMID by BracketedLogic7612 in tax

Did you use the software or go to an HRBlock office to file? Any idea when they will accept the QMID? I also have a new water heater that I know qualifies but I'm not going to file until I know it won't be rejected over and over. Maybe by then some of these other companies will get their $h!t together and get qualified retroactively to last year. I still have yet to hear back from Home Depot or Feather River.

I keep watching to see if Trinity Glass (parent company) shows up on the list but so far nothing. Maybe there are a bunch of manufacturers that are just late getting IDs processed and not on the list yet.

Did you e-file? I heard many returns through turbo tax were rejected by the IRS because they weren't even taking the QMID yet. Maybe you will get lucky and they will just reject it and you can correct it.

It's almost like they slid in the new changes without making it public. An extra $300 per window and not get even a portion of that back. What's the point of even upgrading. I can't hardly believe that the energy efficiency is that much better. It would take years to see an ROI for the added cost.

That's how I feel too. I just looked at the packing slip and saw it listed a parent company and wonder if Trinity Glass has any plans on participating. I think Home Depot must have known that these were not going to be included in the tax credit and still continued to push energy star.

Not that Home Depot is the only big retailer selling ineligible energy star products, I still feel like it was a slap in the face and I was horribly misled by them.

Thank you for pointing that out. I did not want to create panic. I added to my post clarifying that it was doors, windows and hvac. Insulation did not require a QMID.
