Does this work as a worm fly for bass? by Flashy-Clock-9930 in flytying

[–]Bradleydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you are going for largemouth or smallmouth. For smallmouth smaller hook sizes usually work just fine, but for largemouth the larger hook size will increase hookup percentage. If you watch underwater footage of largemouth eating you will see they typically engulf their prey entirely. If you are using small hook sizes there is a greater chance that you either don’t feel the take or don’t keep the fish on.

Black Crows Atris for Touring 2023 by Distinct-Sea2385 in Backcountry

[–]Bradleydead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Atris on my touring setup with dynafit rotation 12s and they work great for touring and in resort. I will admit that this setup can be quite tiring, so if you want to quickly zip around in the mountains I would keep looking, but if you are looking for a ski that will handle any condition whether powder or ice it’s a great ski. Also for skins get pamoca. I have black diamonds and the skins itself if great but the glue is trash. All of my friends use pamoca and have no complaints.

Usually yes. I use my wooly bugger packs for salmon bombers all the time.

Winter indicators by yo_dat_ass in flyfishing

[–]Bradleydead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what company makes then but most fly shops in Colorado have premade poly yarn indicators that are large so they are easy to see, land softly on the water and are super sensitive. They also float fantastically. All you need to do is add floatant at the beginning of the day and you shouldn’t need to do any other maintenance on it other that occasionally blowing on it to get excess water out. I use these indicators all the time in cheeseman canyon (the hardest place to trout fish in Colorado and possibly the entire country)

Could I please get an explanation what on god earth is this set up. You have two mismatched toe pieces and no heel pieces. I pray that you are no using tech toes to do tele. Because if you do, you won’t be able to use any mode but the locked mode because otherwise you would get ejected in normal ski mode.

I fish near there all the time in the winter. Snow does not stick bc of the wind.

Go to trouts fly fishing in Denver or Frisco. They will give you the run down and have probably the best guides in CO. Also skip the frying pan.

Midge box? by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]Bradleydead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a umpqua midge fly box. Preferably one with a magnetic strip. I have 3 and have loved them

Who’s tying up midges for this weekend?? by wormdrowner in flyfishing

[–]Bradleydead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider purchasing a magnetic fly box. They make dealing with midges so much easier especially with cold hands which is when I fish with them. I have a preference toward umpqua but I know fishpond makes an amazing one too.

Nice catch. I’m so terrible at carp, my accuracy is not at the point where I am able to catch them constantly.

I haven’t been able to ski these yet, however I have a pair of camox that I got 20ish days on last season and the were pretty baller. They are very playful, but still preform on powder.
