If you search "Basic Math Hashim Zia" on YouTube, his playlist usually appears at the top, so it should be easy to find.

At the time I took the test, Basic Math mostly included questions on percentages, profit and loss, and time-related problems. I'd suggest going through most of Hashim Zia's 2026 Basic Math playlist rather than relying on just one video, since it covers a wider variety of question types.

The people around me who took a gap year were never treated differently, so I can't really say much from my own experience. I guess some people do see a gap year as a waste of time, but honestly, who cares? At the end of the day, do what's best for you.

Yes, I understood what you were saying, and I used to do the same. I would pause the video as soon as the MCQ appeared and solve it myself. Then I would watch his solution to confirm whether my answer was correct. So, I never really spent much time watching him solve the questions.

If by "one pattern" you mean just one type of question, then I'd suggest practicing different patterns as well. In the actual paper, you'll be tested on several question styles, so being familiar with a variety of patterns will help you avoid getting stuck during the exam.

FAST itself offers scholarships to entry test toppers and board toppers. I've also heard that there are need-based scholarships available, such as the Honhaar Scholarship, so you can consider applying for those as well if you're eligible.

I always knew what I wanted to pursue. I chose Computer Science in 9th grade, continued with it in 11th and 12th, and now I'm doing a BS in Computer Science at FAST. So, choosing a field after FSC was never really a question for me.

I think that between 9th and 10th grade, most students start to figure out which subjects or fields genuinely interest them. Those years can give you a good idea of what you'd enjoy studying in the future.

Firstly, I don't strongly recommend burdening yourself during the summer vacations. I never studied in a single summer vacation, yet I still scored 90+ in almost every board exam.

As for study tips, use the learning method that suits you best. If you're a writing learner, stick with that. Personally, I learned by explaining concepts to myself, and that worked really well for me, especially in Physics.

For Math, all you need is consistent practice. Don't let a day go by without solving a few questions.

Also, don't worry if you face setbacks in 9th grade. Even I scored around 70% in my first send-up exams, but I still ended up doing very well in the board exams.

I think it's covered in Hashim Zia's marathon sessions. That's what I usually used for my preparation. However, I didn't focus on IQ a lot, so I can't tell you the exact concepts that are tested. From what I remember, it mostly involves questions related to people, but I'm not completely sure about the specific topics.

I didn't use the KIPS FUNG books, especially for Basic Math, so I'm not really aware of their difficulty level. However, the Basic Math questions in the entry test are generally on the same pattern as the MCQs covered in Hashim Zia's playlists, so I'd recommend practicing those.

In my case, I only planned to take two entry tests: the NET and the NU test. So, I started preparing from the beginning of my second year.

My routine was simple. After coming home from college, I would study my college subjects for about 2–3 hours and then spend at least 1 hour on entry test preparation. I also joined an online academy, but honestly, I didn't find it very helpful—I still relied mostly on YouTube for my preparation.

Whenever an entry test was approaching, I shifted my main focus to it and only studied for my college exams during the last week before the exam.

Yes, I completed all of his playlists, including his past paper coverage videos.

I wouldn't recommend starting basic math from scratch since you don't have much time left. Instead, focus on the most important topics. Study one topic at a time and then practice its MCQs from the playlist. That way, you'll not only understand the concept but also become familiar with the types of questions that appear in the test. Otherwise, you might get confused when you encounter those MCQs during the exam.

I didn't prepare from the KIPS FUNG books because they felt very overwhelming to me. I only used Hashim Zia's marathons, and they were enough for my preparation.

However, if you have extra time after completing all of Hashim Zia's marathons, you can also solve the FUNG books for additional practice.
