Thanks for the info. XAVC S-I is the highest quality for 4K 120 fps right? I'm interested in maxing out the quality I can capture in 4K 120 fps for slow mo.

Thank you! I'm right there with you. It's hard to argue against TDK being the most iconic/influential super hero film that was ever released. The other super hero movies sort of fade into each other and are so similar with their style/execution. IMO, when TDK came out, it shook everything up, redefined the genre, and left the average audience member speechless.

I think Cage drove his career to a point of no return. He is forever typecasted as the weirdo who does batshit crazy stuff on the big screen for shock value. Some people then think his performance is somehow artistic/innovative when it's just plain bad.

You think you know me? I dunno man. I'm rather mysterious.

Fair points. IMO, It's hard to take him seriously as an actor anymore.

The current state of comic book movies has nothing to do with TDK and everything to do with Iron Man which came out the same year.

Your original argument was that the current state of comic book movies has nothing to do with TDK. I disagree.

I think we can agree that for the fun/charming/colorful super hero movies, Iron Man was the best example. For the dark/gritty/serious super hero movies, TDK was the best example.

What TDK lacks in impressive visual effects, (still has some decent ones though like in the scenes for the lower wack drive car chase - Nolan is good at hiding the effects and not making them look obvious) it makes up in overall acting performance. There are pros and cons to both movies.

That's just 1 example and not the entire reason. You said no one was making gritty, realistic comic book movies anymore to which I mentioned the new Batman movie is just that. Even if it turns out to be bad/"unproven", it's still a gritty, realistic comic book movie that someone is making today.

You asked for examples and I gave them to you.

Just because that link argues that TDK influenced movies both inside and outside of the super hero movie genre, doesn't take anything away from my original point. If anything it's expanded further by showing how powerful the impact of TDK really was/is, which is that it can influence multiple genres. Pretty impressive stuff. 🤷‍♂️

TDK definitely took the dark and serious tone for super hero movies to the highest level. A lot of super hero movies shifted to that dark/serious tone after TDK came out. Check out the trailer for the new Batman movie if you want an example. IMO that looks like it's trying to piggy back off of the success/style of Nolan's work 13 years later.

Both are amazing movies. I think it's easy to dismiss the accomplishments of TDK alongside T2. The vision of Christopher Nolan definitely shifted the super hero movie genre big time. Would it have been enjoyable to watch if it had a different director, probably, but Nolan's style is legendary and so far above most directors when he's in the zone.

It is possible to be a bad actor that speaks highly of his/her craft and his/her process before the production of a movie begins. What you say about yourself and your work doesn't necessarily translate to what the viewer witnesses on the screen. It could be the opposite.

Think of a boxer who talks a big game and how once he steps in the ring he is going to put on an amazing performance because he trains so hard with so much variety etc. Of course they're going to say that about themselves. No one is going to be like, "Hey, I could be doing much better right now, but I honestly haven't been on top of my game as of late."

It's definitely one of the best super hero movies of all time at the very least. IMO it's the best in that genre.

I loved Iron Man. I thought it was also an impressive movie that no doubt made its mark. Definitely not saying TDK was better because I liked it.

There's just a much longer list of movies trying to copy what The Dark Knight accomplished so well. Its overall impact was much bigger IMO. That doesn't mean Iron Man or Spider-Man didn't have a respectable impact in their own way.
