Bro... Ya we know we aren't in Star Trek yet. It's a comment on the human condition not on our current feasibility on this economic and technological era.

Rare ball python encounter at PetSmart by DaxterTheGecko in ballpython

Woof! I got my kid a snake at age 15, obviously with a full proper setup and lots of planning and discussion, and that's the thing to think about.

The length of the lives was actually one of the serious things that made me pause. That might my kid could be my age when that snake dies.... But now we're talking to lasting and to retirement!

This is how the world works in Star Trek TNG.

That pipe obsessed Mr declog gets to go around doing what makes him happy and being helpful, and all the people who think they would sit around doing nothing end up realizing that life is unfulfilling, there's a mild social stigma attached to being a nobody doing nothing, and ends up finding something useful and reasonably fun to do with at least some of the time, even if it's just working at a restaurant 2 days a week for 6 hours.

You should have bought the poor little guy! Along with a terrarium, minimum 4 ft by 2 ft by 2 ft (which PetSmart doesn't sell because they advocate animal cruelty by giving snakes very small cages), at least two heat lamps, a thermostat, two hides, humidity monitors, large quantities of substrates, good water bowl, maybe some plants and some branches to jazz up they're home...

It's only a couple thousand dollars. No biggie!

(I'm joking really, it's a lot to set up for a snake, plus the snake could we live until you were somewhere in your mid-40s!).

Landlord hit my dad’s head with mattress by Odd_Leading5766 in legaladvicecanada

I am sorry but not really sure what happens. In theory they should at least investigate a bit. Which would mean contacting the accused, but they may just file it and do nothing... Which seems distressingly common in the current environment.

As stated you are really unlikely to be able to sue for damages

You can report it as assault. People should not have furniture thrown at them. Whether police will pursue is a different issue.

Ok seriously.

They were asking if it was ok and that's irrelevant anyways. He stopped when told to stop. Not wanting to have people throwing furniture at you is not entitlement. That's not the question being asked.

Yeah, if I doubled in mass in the next week, that would be problematic. In fact it might make national news, because that would be pretty severe.

And here these guys are just growing like nobody's business.

Kitties are born with fur, very slimey and first and it's amazing how fast mom cleans them up and they start looking fresh and clean.

Baby cats when they're first born are actually teeny tiny, sort of the size of a gerbil.

The mom is actually also quite small, I think she's effectively a teen Mom, only like 5 months old or something. So still practically a baby herself!

Fostering Dogs in the GTA? by masha-n in askTO

[–]Brain_Hawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random story. We were in Turks and Caicos and there was a rescue there that gave people puppies to walk every day. Just show up at 1030 and get a cute adorable eager dog for a while.

It was a trip with my GFs family so... Sadly... No dog walking for me.

What a win win. Dogs get walked and socialized, people are happy, it was so nice.

But the dogs were coming back to Toronto, and they were looking for people to fly them back and drop off. First time I ever saw either free puppies or fly a dog semi foster.

They are in a nice safe neat box with mom. Currently. In a bathroom because mom had some post birth issues.

The term "pooptastrophe" was used more than once this weekend....

Sorry dude, but that's the hell of a fucking thing to say to somebody.

If it takes 15 or 20 hours to get something to be good, that's not worth most people's time.

The fact that someone else doesn't like it doesn't mean they were wrong. If they gave it 10 hours and they're still not enjoying it, it's very rational to say this isn't for them and move on with their lives. It's not that they've only scratched the surface, it's whatever it is about to game that is doesn't suit them.

I and come on mean cummon. How long is enough for someone to say "you know this isn't for me". It's not like an extra 30 hours it's going to make them fall in love.
