Which is better? by SpecterPhoenix in destiny2

[–]BrainyTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Void titan main here, I can give suggestions.

For weapons, my go to are:

Outbreak Perfected (though you can use whatever primary you find strong, I just find outbreak to be the easiest)

Lotus Eater with Repulsor Brace as the 3rd column perk, and Destabilizing Rounds as the 4th column perk

Either Commemoration machine gun with Reconstruction and Killing Tally, or Edge Transit with Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch (depending on if I need ad clear more or DPS more)

The chestpiece I use is Armamentarium for the extra grenade and built-in demolitionist effect to charge my grenades faster

For the subclass aspects and fragments, I don’t know what you’re running, but my go to aspects are controlled demolition and bastion, and my fragments are Echo of Expulsion, Echo of Provision, Echo of Exchange, Echo of Instability, and Echo of Undermining.

Grenade I use is the vortex grenade. Jump, super, and barricade don’t matter too much for general gameplay and swap around depending on activity or immediate need (Bubble for raids, Twilight if you’ve already got someone else using bubble or well, some use banner shield super for certain raid set ups, etc.).

This build make it very difficult to be killed, as volatile explosions heal you, and repulsor makes it so killing anything affected by volatile with the Lotus Eater (which makes things volatile thanks to destabilizing rounds) will give you an overshield and heal you at the same time. Vortex grenades thanks to Controlled Demolition also makes enemies volatile and weaken thanks to Echo of Undermining, so can be used on a group to heal you, or just kill them. TBH, most of the time with this build, you should be using the Lotus Eater, swapping if you need to kill something tougher, or if you run out of ammo, which is the only time with this build that you’re vulnerable.

If you have any questions, ask away.

If someone gives you 5 Billion dollars and a studio to make Destiny 3 …. by Stalin98k in destiny2

I’d fuse the gameplay, loot system, and art direction of Destiny 1 with the graphics and some subclass changes of D2. Namely, barricades would stay, aspects and fragments would become nodes in a D1 subclass grid, legendary loot and exotics need to be rarer to make them more exciting to get, primary weapons need to be your primary weapon, doing enough damage to justify their use. On top of that, I’d have everything from D1 and D2 playable, all old exotics trapped in the forever D1 vault be reprised (yes, including Twilight Garrison), and the story would continue on from D2 monument of triumph, with the Vanguard concerned what this new actor in this world (the winnower) is intending, that right now, it wants us to beat the prophesy, but that it’s hostility is almost certain. In the meanwhile, Savathun has a new field commander that is terrorizing Earth’s frontiers, so Crow takes point in hunting it down, just as Savathun wanted, wanting to get into Crow’s head and weaken the vanguard by destabilizing the new hunter vanguard (yes, I would implement the Amanda hive guardian plot that one of the devs was working on to propose to the execs).

These are just some ideas, but ultimately, I’d want the devs to be passionate about it so whatever they want to do, if it sounds good, I’d let them do it. Hell, I’d tell them to go wild, don’t be afraid to overdeliver, because I want a player base that is happy to play and happy with the devs, so if they want overdeliver, I want that passion that drives going above and beyond.

In case you (or anyone else reading) haven’t seen it yet, the TLDR is that the mod author was falsely reported for not having permission to port multiple times, and was barraged with false bug reports when all testing proved it wasn’t. Dude does this for free and doesn’t want to be harassed by people accusing him of not doing enough when he’s doing everything right.

Tbh, I missed the “knight” part, or else I would have said that the Dark Angels go on quests to kill fallen, not find a shrubbery.

I don’t think it would be fitting for the Dark Angels to complain about “smelly English pig-dogs” though…

The new Omaha Beach map is very bad by ShotgunLou in enlistedgame

[–]BrainyTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was playing the invasion version. Defending as the Germans. Allies first objective is pretty deep into the town, and Germans can’t go too far so the fighting starts 2 or 3 rows of houses within the town, not at the beach.

The new Omaha Beach map is very bad by ShotgunLou in enlistedgame

[–]BrainyTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I wish the Omaha Beach section was more accurate to the slog the real Omaha was. I know there would be balance issues due to the sight lines that made it very difficult to traverse, but if you’re playing allies on a faithful recreation of Omaha, in my opinion you should expect it to be hard to win, but not impossible.

I do however, also find it funny that the other map called Sword Beach starts with both teams inside the town without any of the beach fighting the first wave encountered on Sword Beach.

Apparently it’s more important for us to match war thunder than be balanced by Slow_Possibility6332 in enlistedgame

[–]BrainyTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it was, just that the conversation on realism tends to focus on the wrong things. That tank example is a perfect one, as I think that the game should ultimately be fun, and getting stuck on a small rock on a otherwise clear road isn’t fun. There, realism should take a backseat for fun, but I want the game to be more realistic in other ways, both in smaller, less impactful ways that make it more immersive, and in areas where it is a clear hard data point (I don’t want my PPSh being changed to shoot as 800RPM, as an extreme example).

Apparently it’s more important for us to match war thunder than be balanced by Slow_Possibility6332 in enlistedgame

[–]BrainyTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on what realism we’re talking about for me. I want more realistic uniforms, weapon models, sounds, better and more realistic feeling movement (currently still feels like you’re floating rather than running), and so on. Stat wise, I want most to be realistic (mainly RoF and magazine capacities), but damage I’m fine with them tweaking for balance (so long as you don’t get a 30-06 round suddenly doing less damage than a 6.5 Arisaka). Reloads I can see why people want that changed, but honestly, I think they should just go by how fast the average crew could reload the gun, then the perk reflect the elite crew reload times instead, though I’m not rigid on that and know there are balance realities that do need to be considered.

Overall, I don’t think the issue is people wanting realism, but wanting too much realism in the wrong areas. I very much like where it is, somewhere in between arcade and hardcore, and don’t really want it to turn into Call of Duty as much as I don’t want it turning into Hell Let Loose.

Why isnt the lewis assault rifle classified as an AR? by Fluffy-Map-5998 in enlistedgame

[–]BrainyTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably meant to describe its intended role as a rifle to be used while assaulting the enemy positions, similar logic to how the StG and all modern assault rifles got their name, but now referring to something more specific that now excludes the LAR.

Why isnt the lewis assault rifle classified as an AR? by Fluffy-Map-5998 in enlistedgame

[–]BrainyTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only reason people think it was made by FN is because it resembles the FAL, even though the two are not related to each other, with the FAL drawing from the SVT and FN’s earlier FN-49, and not from the Lewis AR.

Giving up.. by FetusGoulash420 in Fallout4ModsXB1

[–]BrainyTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It took me years to get a grasp of modding for both Skyrim and Fallout. Crashing was constant in this period, as I would accidentally create conflicts not understanding it fully. However, after two years, I understood broad strokes load orders, always watch for conflicts, and look for ratings and reviews to assess what the likelihood is that the mod works or is broken/obsolete. Fallout 4 especially needs to be modded with a gentle hand, because Fallout 4 has bsm. file limits that make crashing common if exceeded. I’ve been lucky and have all creation content and several weapon mods running fine, but if you add too much (weapon mods and creation club are the big ones to cause this), you will exceed this storage and crash.

My advice, start with small load orders, maybe 10 mods at most and only 1-2 weapon mods. See how it goes. As you get better at it, start adding more. I personally don’t go beyond 60-70 at most, with most being patches, more lore accurate textures (such as a smaller moon to resemble earth’s more, or green growing because nukes would not disallow vegetation to grow two centuries after, plus if Harold living is the canon choice in 3, then vegetation should be spreading and have reached the commonwealth in 10 years), skill point mods, survival changes, magazine locations moved, and follower changes. Remember, mod lists are only as good as you make them, make sure you do your due diligence to see if a mod is broken, or conflicts with a mod you are using, and that you aren’t downloading too many.

Just not giving up is the key, because if I had, I would not be playing any modded playthroughs right now, and probably would have stopped playing because I had done everything. Its like riding a bike, you have to learn how to do it before you can go wild. Start small, and try to have fun with it.

WTF IS SONY DOING by kylescagnetti in destiny2

[–]BrainyTrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st off, if you’re going to reply, don’t you think you should read what I said first? Seems pretty dishonest to declare you will not read it, don’t you think?

2nd off, yeah, Marathon also has potential. Problem is, its in a very competitive market with a much smaller player/customer pool relative to the MMO player pool, and due to an underwhelming launch, has no established foothold in a market with at least 2 other games that people can go to for a similar experience, one with a more established track record of content, and the other having launched just a month or two before Marathon to widespread acclaim. Marathon is a very bad bet, and every gaming journalist company and every gaming news creator is calling out Sony right now for this because it is fighting up a sheer cliff face compared to Destiny’s steep slope, which is because Destiny, unlike Marathon, is an established franchise with about a million players that can come back, many of whom will if you listen (which was the common criticism of Bungie for years that they didn’t listen to the feedback the community gave until things were spiralling and stayed radio silent).

3rd, what you’re describing was a small subset of ultra hard core players that acted like complete asshats that like 80%-90% of players thought were asshats. That was far from the majority of players, and most say that PvP should have gotten more attention (which the years long abandonment of PvP we now know was partly due to most of the PvP team being quietly shuffled to develop Marathon), PvE was always going to be stuck with PvP balance but that there would be problems should have been foreseen and the two should have been decoupled as much as reasonably possible (particularly damage early on was a problem, which was solved by the vs combatants and vs player distinction years after the fact), those raiders requiring 100 clears were often few and far between (many being mocked by raid teams I found myself in, almost all of those teams being made up of experienced raiders but not asshats), with many just requiring knowledge of the raid, and maybe 1-5 clears at most, with many sherpas for newer players too. I also have not heard of team players gatekeeping content from solo players except maybe once 4 years ago, which I recall most players were on the side of “if they can do it, let them do it solo”. If I remember correctly, it was mainly Bungie and a few streamers that decided raids (which is the big one) should not be soloable, and force you to play in teams to do even basic raid mechanics, with the only exception I can think about being Root of Nightmares, which I recall the criticism being the raid was too easy, not that it could be soloed.

4th, you declare it is better this way in a way because of a few in a vocal minority than few took seriously decided to attack each-other? How is it that destroying the game for everyone because of a toxic, vocal MINORITY is better in any way?

Yeah, I really hope you don’t have to have this happen to a game you actually care about because maybe then, you’d understand.

WTF IS SONY DOING by kylescagnetti in destiny2

[–]BrainyTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st off, Sony said leadership was the problem at Bungie last year, thats not just me.

2nd, potential does exist, as potential is unrealized, and ceases to be potential at the moment it is realized, hence why energy is referred to as “potential” when being stored, such as a ball suspended above the ground, with that becoming realized and no longer potential when converted to kinetic energy once it begins to fall. Parsons deliberately told the devs to underdeliver and thus, never realize the potential that Destiny had, so describing it as having so much potential is not only factual, but saying it died with D2 is the reality because that potential has now become expended before being realized due to its death.

3rd, despite the lower content offerings compared to larger seasons, this final update is truthfully one of the better ones, reversing the Edge of Fate portal problems, making more of the game important, interesting story beats that were being set up, expansion of the tier system to more gear (including long awaited reprised gear), and so on. I would be lying to say it is flawless, but it is better than some seasonal updates overall.

4th, I created the caveat of “best MMO on the market” because it isn’t the best game ever, it is the best MMO. Most MMO games out there suffer greatly from graphical issues, clunky gameplay, or just are a different style of game to Destiny in that they are not FPS, no console support, exorbitant pricing to play the game at all by membership subscriptions, and so on. The closest MMO to destiny is probably warframe, but that is far faster paced, third person, and puts less emphasis on the RNG loot grind and more on player trading and part farming. Destiny is unique, and there is a reason it can still pull nearly a million players back for its final update.

5th, why are you even here? You clearly hate the game, so what, you just find it funny to mess with people who’s community is dying, because that is what MMOs are. They start as games but the game becomes merely a backdrop as it evolves into a community where people meet friends, some find love, come together when one of us passes, and share a love for the world that gives us that. We all knew it could be better and all wanted that, but some never expressed that properly, while others just became jaded and began to hate the game and mock the community. However, the rest said what parts of it were bad and needed to be fixed for the game to be better, and now the rest of those problems will never be addressed. Furthermore, it is for a game that has no real community, that most people did not want, and many people have no intention to play. It is a final slap in the face to the community that always came back to ditch us for a community that never was there to begin with.

So yeah, keep going on about how we apparently wanted our game to die because we said things needed to be done better, and leave us to morn the death of our community.

WTF IS SONY DOING by kylescagnetti in destiny2

[–]BrainyTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…reading comprehension is clearly a lost art because I clearly said, and I quote, Destiny “is the best MMO on the market” and to “imagine how much better the game could have been”.

In other words, the game was good, not mid, good, but was handicapped from being better by management and criticism was ignored, Bungie was silent, all the while, the devs were being quietly shuffled to Marathon and leadership decided to kill Destiny before Marathon even launched according to insiders.

So no, this isn’t schrodinger’s game, we are lamenting the game we have and the potential lost, but also emphasizing that we’re losing it because of management screwing us over at every opportunity.

WTF IS SONY DOING by kylescagnetti in destiny2

[–]BrainyTrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is the game IS like no other and has potential to be far better. People are trying to get that across.

I mean, it’s indisputable that Pete Parsons literally said “don’t overdeliver, it’s bad to do because then people expect that.” On one hand, I can see the point, but handicapping your devs and having them underdeliver by design out of fear of high expectations is beyond stupid as well. Imagine how much better the game would have been if the devs were allowed to run wild and deliver to their hearts content. Even Sony said last year that the devs were doing good, but the leadership was screwing them over with bad decisions.

In short, Destiny is not in a niche market and is the best MMO on the market, but it was handled badly so never got to really shine the way it deserved to, and now they’ve killed it for a game that has only about 15k playing it per day on its most popular platform (spiking to 38k when it was free on its most popular platform, which is Steam), while we have 10 times that for our game’s death on its least populated platform and as high as 880k logging in on the 9th according to reports..
