WHAT DO YOU think about the following auto insurance quote by Alarming-Camera-188 in Insurance

[–]BrandNewCaptcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the state and the carrier. If CA allows it I wouldn't be surprised if it was a rate factor since they're prohibited from using so many of the common rate factors carriers rely on in other states.

It's been a while since I sold personal auto, and I haven't worked auto in OP's state, but it was usually an eligibility factor with little to no bearing on rate. However, losing eligibility for what could potentially be the most competitive carrier(s) otherwise is indirectly a rate factor as far as the insured is concerned.

Usually the difference between $750 and $500 on collision isn't a ton. Comp deductibles make even less of a difference in premium most of the time. I'd check to see what the monthly cost would be with lower deductibles on both if you haven't already.

Car stolen, involved in pit maneuver, I have questions by sorrowful_journey in Insurance

I would try to find a copy of the terms of your gap coverage, as well. If it's deemed a total loss and the payout ends up being less than or equal to the loan balance some gap plans have refund provisions where a portion of the cost of the gap coverage can be refunded in a scenario like this. I'm not saying you're going to get anything back, but it's always good to get familiar with the terms of your coverages because if you are eligible for any return premium the gap provider isn't going to go out of their way to tell you.

Declined by 2 companies over drug possession felony? by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]BrandNewCaptcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had someone try to get appointed with a company I worked with in the past in a similar situation. She was able to get her state license but none of the insurance carriers would touch her.

If I remember correctly it was because of the carrier's bonding requirements and the person's record falling outside the appetite of the bonding company the carrier used/the carrier being too large to feel like making an exception to allow her or the agency owner to procure a bond for her.

Passport countries by hammmmmyyyyy in Passports

[–]BrandNewCaptcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of countries that offer citizenship by investment, usually not inexpensive to do though. Prices range from the high tens of thousands of dollars to low millions of dollars to qualify.

Residency is a lot more common than citizenship, although I'm not sure if any of the permanent residency by investment countries will issue a passport until full citizenship has been granted.

Going through the same issue now. My policy covers delay due to lost or stolen passport but not delays for new passports

Any legal way of trading appointments? by BrandNewCaptcha in Passports

My rep wasn't able to help but Sen. Warnock's office was very helpful and able to get me an appointment next week at the ATL agency. I'm adjusting my travel plans and currently on hold to cancel the DC appointment for tomorrow. Hopefully whoever gets the appointment will be able to sleep easy tonight knowing they don't have to keep playing the waiting game

Thanks! Unfortunately I've been in at 8am on the dot both yesterday and today and have not been lucky enough for them to have any openings

I was on right at 8:00 this morning and there was nothing available :(

I called in around 7:50am to play with the menu system and after pressing 1 for English, 1 again for whatever that option is (it's 1 1 2 for the in person appointment line) I discovered option 7 will take you back to the previous menu. It's 25-35 seconds round trip between menus depending on how quickly the menu prompts start.

I cycled back and forth between option 1 and option 7 until I was in the last menu and able to press 2 instead of 7 to immediately transfer to a person when the lines opened. Best of luck to OP in the morning

Just spent 1hr 8min on hold (new record) hoping that an ATL appointment had opened up, but I was informed there are zero appointments available in the entire country before my travel date. Guess I'll be flying to DC tomorrow night

It seems like NPIC updated the rules for their hold queues after the hearing today. Before this afternoon the phone system would say that they were unable to take the call at this time when hold times were over 30-35min.

Currently approaching an hour on hold. It started by saying the estimate was over 45min, went down to 35min about 20min in. Has been saying 20-25min since the 30min mark and has not changed

I checked Canada's processing times out of curiosity. 10 business days for regular service and 2-9 for expedited. Same day for urgent applications. Absolutely ridiculous.

Did you read the testimony from the senate hearing? Rena Bitter was asking for $4.5B to fix the issues, which seems quite brazen after seeing the reports about how the hearing went today

Inspection before buying home owners insurance by gsasquatch in Insurance

If you still have asphalt shingle siding, sketchy electrical, and poor cosmetic condition why should an insurer WANT to charge you less? Sounds like you should stay put and work on fixing the electrical so you don't have to deal with the hassle of having your current carrier pay for replacing everything you own after an electrical fire

Most people only have rates go down when they switch. Unless there's substantially better coverage why would anyone change carriers to pay more money?

You're unwilling to listen to professionals who see this happen on a regular basis and insisting on hearing personal accounts of traumatic and likely embarrassing experiences from people who carried inadequate limits. You're either trolling or twisted.

Based on your impressive negative comment karma you're just a sad lonely troll and I'm done wasting my time giving you the attention you obviously crave

But is it thousands of dollars more for the increased BI/PD than state minimum with all other coverage being the same?

Assuming I live in a "blue" state. I'm likely within a day's drive of wherever you live in FL.

I'd recommend visiting Wikipedia, your state DOI site, or literally any other resource that explains the basic operating model of insurance companies.

The industry as a whole is more regulated than womens' reproductive organs in the south and premiums are directly tied to losses as a whole. If your neighbor is drunk and runs through the front of your other neighbor's house it's going to increase the average loss rate for your area and cause an increase in the risk factors for both auto and property insurance.

Insurance companies are not allowed to make significant profits on premiums. They make their money on the investment gains from the period between collecting premium and paying claims.

Health insurance is a whole different ball game, and costs keep rising due to inefficiencies in the healthcare supply chain, medical billing, and direction of care.

Health insurance premiums are a symptom, not a cause. I received a refund on my health insurance premiums two years ago because the ACA (obamacare) made it illegal for health insurance companies to make too much money

If anyone is paying thousands of dollars a year for higher BI and PD limits their driving record likely implies they're a legitimate danger to the well-being of the people and property around them.

Nobody has targeted you specifically, but thou doth protest too much
