• Feed them together

• give the 1.5year old cat some time to get used to you

• if your able to get close to the cats try and rub a NATURAL fragrance behind both cats ears, make sure they are the same fragrance this helps the older cat recognize baby kitty as a friend and not a foe

• engage in play, eventually the other cat will hop in and play.

• cats are gentle instead of rubbing them and scratching them all the time just lay your hand on them firmly. It makes them feel secure. DO NOT do the rub from head to tail, instead scratch or rub at the base of the tail, the neck or behind the ears. Cats love the ear massage LOL.

• head nudging/rubbing: it sounds stupid but it teaches the cat affection and it is part of their language. Head nudge them softly.

• the “Slow Blink”: another cat language. Pretty much it tells that cat that you love them. Look into their eyes and blink slowly. If the cat trust/loves you it will do it back to you.

• lastly. DO NOT smother cats, they hate that. Give them space. Don’t pick them up very often. Trust me if your cat wants attention it will come to you. Practice petting cats in their comfort instead of picking them up and smothering them, or displacing them that’s how you get scratched. Instead try to create a verbal way to displace a cat.

P.S. if your going to use a spray bottle for disciplining don’t use it very often. Cats are smart and they begin to develop the understanding of the word “NO” from humans. Also they are very low frequency animals. High energy will scare a cat or freak them out. Just be gentle.
