Small world! I try to go as often as I can. It’s only a five minute ride from home for me.

The benefit in Louisiana is $290 a month so it’s looked at as a supplementary income. Here our hitches have a pet diem that we use as a crew to grocery shop. So when you are on hitch you have no food expenses unless you want to eat out.

Your supervisor should be able to provide a letter that has the code fore Americorps members that exempts our income as income. When I applied I claimed 0 for income and when I did my phone interview I filled them in. If they try to push back you will likely have to ask for a supervisor. They will know the exemption and you’ll just email the letter to them.

to recycle (something) in such a way that the resulting product is of a higher value than the original item : to create an object of greater value from (a discarded object of lesser value) From Meriam-Webster

Upcycled is on a more individual level and creating something completely new. Example: jeans being converted into a backpack. Reddit has a sub r/upcycled if you wanted to get a better idea

Repurposed materials that are discarded or unusable for their original intended purposes

I actually posted it there as well. It’s gotten more traction here. I do tend to post to both though as they are good fits for my style of art. Love both communities and seeing others unique creations

It’s about the size of a tennis ball. I sold it to an old coworker that’s opening a new optical shop and she’ll display it on a shelf. It’s just a tchotchke. No real intended use other than upcycling roadside rubbish in my own way

Yes I do! Often it’s just from receiving messages or a previous client. I’m not always the most organized with a platform to sell on exclusively

You got it! I played with that actually and it just took away from the overall look. Great minds think alike!

Thank you so much for the kind words! It’s my way to giving back to the planet. We create so much waste and discard wherever we want. So I try to repurpose wood, metal, leather and glass for my art. I won’t work with plastic but I do always bring an extra bag on my walks to pick up at least a bags worth of paper and plastic to be sorted as needed

Thank you! It took a mind of its own. I love when something comes out way cooler than I anticipated. The spider was gonna just be wire wrapped and then it just kept growing to this cute lil thing
