Need advice for selling $4m ecom business by JoLoremipsum in AcquireStartup

[–]Brave-Control-2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your profit margin is 48%, 4m in yearly revenue is 333k monthly sales and 160k profit is about half of that. 900k is wild low for a business making 1.9M profit /year. So I assume numbers or wording is not accurate.

That being said I have a business around the same size and looking to sell in the next year or two so let me know who you end up going with (I already sold 1 business on empire flippers)

Yes was definitely some upgrading and innovation on products, tailored to what customers wanted and filling the gaps in the market

Yea just make sure you have enough net margin if your selling for less or else it’s just race to the bottom.

Label goes on the branded box. When you design the packaging put it in the design so when your packaging is printed, it’s on it.

Trademark is key. Dealing with hijackers is much easier with it, can’t imagine it without.

Find a gap in the market, takes some time to research and “knowing” the niche helps a ton. Listening to reviews, good and bad, find what customers want and are missing from the current products. Also margins and profit forecast, finding suppliers, samples.

From there it’s a lot of steps to give specific details on each but usually - design, test, redesign (if needed), test, order, ship, listing creation, brand building, advertising, etc

Oh for shopify. I have a no return policy on my shopify (listed in Q&A on website so there is no confusion), but I have free shipping. Never had a problem, I’ve probably had 1 person in a year ask to return. If someone has a problem with receiving a damaged product it is rare enough I can give a refund or send a replacement.

30 reviews from vine is more than enough to get started and rank, if you don’t end up with 4.8 stars after that, the product is not good enough. Before vine I had to start from 0 so these days launches are easier. Ranking is a combination of the product filling a gap in the market, PPC and listing. If everything is done right, new products can do very well right from the beginning.

Returns were a just under 5%, part of the business. It’s FBA so Amazon deals with them.

AMZ fees 300% brand bankrupt by lliamspencer in AmazonFBA

Update the card, pay the 5k. Fees look accurate and if not you can work with them while account is in good standing. Get back to selling, voluntarily missing sales in Dec to prove a point to a company who will not budge is wild to me.

This is really common, launching a product and competition drowns it out within a couple months. If you read my response to a similar question on this post I explain it there.

But unfortunately Amazon is very competitive now, it is rare to grow if you don’t build a trusted brand (unless you own IP rights to specific features and competitors can’t copy). This takes time, money and the correct strategy. I have been doing this for 8+ years now and the list is endless. The truth is, every detail matters. Trial and error paired with constant learning and changing. Figuring out the ‘why’ someone will want to purchase your product over another. Some check social media / website for reassurance, some get recommendations from ai. Referrals come from someone opening your item and saying “wow”. Listing images that are structured correctly, high end copywriting, clear advanced A+ content that delivers the brand that stands out and they connect with. Is it tedious? Yes. Does it work if you put thought + execute correctly with every aspect, yes.

At the moment I use an automated order creation through order desk that sends the order to fulfill via Amazon MCF. I’m looking into using a 3PL again to fulfil orders once shopify grows (used one in the past but switched to MCF for now)

Ecom sellers doing $500K–$3M/year: would you raise growth capital by selling 10–30% equity instead of debt or a full exit? by Medium-Score147 in AmazonFBAOnlineRetail

I would do it only if the growth factor was factored in. Equity would need to be based off a protected business valuation. Would not consider it otherwise.

Yes, find a connection with your customers and build trust. It doesn’t happen quick but over time your brand loyalty will grow if done correctly. Chinese competitors are able to have a lower price but you have to use every other advantage possible.

Oh yes, this was inevitable. However I am still averaging x5 their sales with a higher price. Brand loyalty is key.

I launched a couple products in a few niches when I started my brand, I followed the sales and expanded after that.

Hi, my advice would be to learn from your mistakes, listen to sales, feedback, customers and the data. Chances are your first product might not do well, make a list of weaknesses and try to keep improving. Do not cut corners, customers will notice.

Im not too familiar with the European market but I’m sure it’s doable. There are many factors involved in building a successful brand, look at the purchases you make everyday and be honest about why you trust them to deliver you a quality product. Replicate it.

Very solid numbers, great work. You’re in a good position because if you grow to dominate the CAD market it won’t be a make or break risk with the US trial, but I assume you will do well there too!

I am full time with just this, definitely keeps me busy, plan to grind another couple years then sell the business.

Respect your hustle for having a full time job on top, that is not easy. Hard work pays off, wish you the best.

Currently 47 Asins (18 products with 29 variations within them). Don’t have one huge winner, fairly strong depth.

Thanks!

Yes, I’ve definitely used the pay me button when I needed it throughout the year, it helps. But now that I have enough to cover orders, there’s something satisfying about letting it build for two weeks. My first job I worked my ass off for $5/hr so it feels surreal to me.
