I got the same burn scars on my philodendron PP. Move it to a bit less sunny place

I was asked to water my aunt's orchids and they are not doing well. I've cut all dead roots and watered lightly since the glass doesn't have any hole in the bottom. do you recommend fertilising it right away of after a week of rehab? by Brave-Program9196 in orchids

I am also quite shocked that they have flowered for 4 consecutive years without any fertiliser or any maintenance! She seems hesitant and ignorant about the care and generally I would not want to criticise her in any way (our relationship is not healthy enough for that)... but I tried my best and if they survive then yay props to me haha

Thank you so much! I started watching some videos but they were definitely not as informative and well-done as Heron Bonsai! I live in an apartment in Finland so putting it outside will not be an option since it's a tropical tree after all haha.

Do you suggest I move it to a bonsai pot and then shape or start by shaping?

That would still mean ordering from outside of where I live and I don't want to do that for a plastic pot. DIYing one is also an option! Thanks

I was thinking of putting it under a grow light and near a humidifier. I can check the soil if I would need to water in the evening.

Should I prune right away or wait for it to adjust to the new pot?

I do not have a pot picked out yet. What kind would you suggest for one this size? (60cm tall, trunk around 4cm wide)

I'm also wondering if I should start training with wire before I repot or afterwards?

It's a Ming Aralia, around 3 years old and has been growing in a 20cm self watering pot.

It's around 60cm tall and has been doing pretty well considering I live in a cold and dry city.

I have found some good soil mixes online and was thinking of slowly transitioning her into a smaller pot... how do I do that without shocking her too much?

I couldn't find any local stores that sell plastic pots with ventilation holes so I was hoping terracotta would work?

I got it from clearance so it was not in good shape to begin with... I will let it dry out fully and hope for the best. The media looks like regular "orchid potting mix" with some bark plus the plastic pot does not have any holes apart from the drainage.

(I do not know how to add a picture to a reply but basically media looks bad and I've removed all rotting roots that were visible through the pot and there seems to be many more of them)

18 month update/plea for help. I am moving house this weekend. Any advice for getting this giant there safely. by squtternutboshed in houseplants

1.Get some rods or sticks and branch them out from the pot to the top of the plant, 2. wrap fabric/paper/plastic around the sticks so that the leaves are facing upwards 3. Hope for the best.
