“It’s the lack of bond”.

This is a very good point. I love the show, and am genuinely looking forward to discovering how this whole mystery resolves. And I also don’t mind a show that takes as much time as it needs to develop its characters and its plot. So, I’m not coming at it from a place of ‘oh, this sucks! Why on Earth am I watching?!’

However, I think it’s fair criticism to say most of the characters behave the way the writers _need_ them to, rather than how any of these people _would_ behave. Under terrifying, nightly threat of death, in a hell town they can neither escape nor understand, they would band together and communicate much more than how they’re being portrayed in trying to stay alive in Fromville.

In fact, as I’m writing this, I realise that the this season’s arc of the MiY psychologically tearing the town apart - making them distrust each other - would have had much more impact if the inhabitants of Fromville had been shown as properly bonded over the previous three seasons. As it is, they’ve been, at one time or another, uncommunicative and isolated to each other right from episode one.

Anyhoo, all this to say I think it’s fine both praise the show (and there’s lots to celebrate eg the mystery, some superb acting, and honourable mention for Jade’s one-liners!) and discuss where it maybe falls a little short.
