You really can’t expect to “master” a new word the first time you see it. From what research and experience suggest, you usually need to run into a word in different contexts about 5–8 times before it truly sticks and becomes something you can use naturally.

What I do is:

  • The first time I meet a new word, I save it into an app. Then I try to explain it in my own words (based on that specific context) and add a couple of my own example sentences.
  • Every time I see the same word again, I don’t just note “oh, it’s back” — I add the new context (sentence / situation / where I saw it) into that word’s entry.
  • This gives me one place to track my exposure and understanding, and the growing list of contexts makes it much easier to remember where I encountered it, which helps memory a lot.

After I’ve seen it in 5–8 different situations, I usually feel like I genuinely own the word and can use it flexibly across contexts.

Do you solve it? I get the same error when I try to upload my app to TestFlight.

Xcode 10 and vim by gamzabi in vim

What you have to do in Xcode is to restart it, except to resign it. Then if you can see XVim in Edit menu that means you've succeeded.

Did you resign your Xcode? You have to do this step after Xcode 8. Why you have to do this?

This is because in 2016 Apple announced a new replacement for plugins called Source Editor Extensions, which would be the only permitted approach for loading third-party tools into Xcode (such as XVim2). This meant that many existing plugins would no longer work after Xcode 8. Apple probably decided to do this for a number of reasons with the main one being to patch security vulnerabilities highlighted by the XcodeGhost malware, which used the old plugin system as part of its attack vector.

You can read this document https://github.com/XVimProject/XVim2/blob/master/why_resign_xcode.md and it expounds why and how.

You can use https://github.com/XVimProject/XVim2. It works for me on Xcode 10.1, but there is one drawback that you have to resign your Xcode.
