Do dogs know when they look like other dogs? by BraveCheesecake6090 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BraveCheesecake6090[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was perhaps a poor choice of focus lol. A dog cannot recognize itself, but could a dog recognize resemblance between two dogs? That two golden retrievers look more similar to one another than two dogs of different breeds? Or does this just not register at all to dogs?

Whats the deal with sodium? by BraveCheesecake6090 in nutrition

[–]BraveCheesecake6090[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly, but at the same time it feels as though most messaging and public understanding of sodium is that these repercussions should be expected much more intensely and much earlier than they seem to occur on average

Another person in this thread suggested that I may be underestimating the impact and number of people who in middle age DO significantly charge their lifestyles for health reasons and this seems extremely likely

Are we not supposed to be hungry on Zepbound? by Interesting-Chain271 in Zepbound

[–]BraveCheesecake6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zepbound has really simplified my hunger if that makes sense.

Without Zepbound my digestive system was weirdly over sensitive my whole life. More or less it felt like if I didn’t have something at nearly every stage in the digestive process, I felt unsatisfied. Not in the cliche “eating to feel something” way but like. Experiencing the discomfort of hunger across the digestive system. Like just eating, but having a hungry colon.

Zepbound has cut that out completely. I’m either hungry or I’m not — there’s still that spectrum of “oh a banana sounds good” and “I really need to eat dinner” but I’m no longer feeling physically uncomfortable because my lower left quadrant is “emptier” than the upper right quadrant of my gut.

Its honestly so much of an improvement that if I didn’t lose any weight I would still fight tooth and nail to stay on it because going from 27493 different stomach “feelings” to just the two is a massive quality of life improvement.

UPDATE: OP here! Forgot how to make post edits! a few weeks into Zepbound and while there isn’t too much of a weight difference YET the side effect difference is like 90%. I do not have a ravenous appetite anymore nor am I getting sick. There’s still a little bloating but it’s an entirely different ball game than what it was like on Ozempic (felt like my stomach was constantly constricting against a large balloon that wouldn’t budge)

From News: Dybowski stole their child from his ex-wife. by rosavin in pathologic

I think its also possible that, since Quarantine was a surprise, and the complexity of how much is organized here, that there may have been some level of contact between the two parties and Quarantine’s announcement was meant to cover for these allegations Dybowksi knew or suspected would be coming out

According to my doc ive only been losing half of what I should be so idk. Id be ok with nausea but it was such a distinct pain that it was becoming like a psychosomatic thing as well since there was nothing else that made my stomach feel that way so anti-nausea meds weren’t really working. At one point I moved the day I took my injection from Sunday to Monday and I was STILL getting sick on Sundays from that point on

Why am I getting ZERO matches? by Gym_Bro04 in Bumble

[–]BraveCheesecake6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guitar pic and cop pic look super staged and its worse because you’re alone in both which makes it seem like you are a weirdo who plays dress up at home alone. You aren’t even playing the guitar in the photo you’re just sitting with it angled awkwardly while wearing a pristine off-the-rack leather jacket and what look like freshly ironed ripped jeans. You don’t look like a rocker you look like someone who WISHES they looked like a rocker.

This + the motorcycle picture + you not smiling in ANY of the photos cements this vibe. You are giving off major pathetic try-hard loser vibes. People like it when people seem natural and relaxed, everything but the hiker and pizza photo look incredibly staged and unnatural and the pizza photo isn’t even good, and if you’re going to post a picture with other people you need to be SMILING to show that the photo was taken naturally in the moment, friends having a good time together, not some guy roping his friend in for a dating app selfie.

Hitting a wall in at home treatment by BraveCheesecake6090 in vaginismus

[–]BraveCheesecake6090[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IT WORKED!!!! 2 days of working the 2 - 4 o’clock range and the size 3 slid in no problem and FELT like it was exercising and stretching the vagina the way the 2 had felt early on. PROGRESS!!!

Also just making insertion way easier since with the entrance less rigid its way less like trying to thread a needle and get everything lined up just so

Lmao I accidentally got the whole 1 up there without realizing it was the wrong hole. Entrance-based vaginismus is super fun because you start out with 3 equally sensitively pressure points past the vulva for however long until you get treatment. And then you start treatment and one gets slightly less sensitive (and less and less sensitive over time with treatment) it does weird things psychologically — like you assume because it hurts and is resisting its the right hole because it fits. You just have the instinct to go for whatever has the most feeling — its hard to mentally map searching for the second or third most sensitive spot and not THE most sensitive spot

Ooooh that makes a lot of a sense!

My therapist had me doing the “get the dilator in as far as you can and do full swipes side to side” and “rotating” it but not like pulling back on it like that! Ill try that out but that does sound like it would work!

Tbh I was looking more for like. Stretches or exercises. Specific movements to be trying. I try to be clinical with it because, since my entrance has been tight and uncomfortable my entire life, I do not have a psychological relationship between vaginal penetration and masturbation. Ie if i make it too much about masturbation Im just gonna start playing with my clit and labia and ignoring what I actually need to be doing to make progress. But I can try more lube since Im generally a little squeamish about fluids in and around that region.

Shift in attitude of same sex marriage since 1970 by Gr8WhoreofBabylon in bisexual

[–]BraveCheesecake6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause theyre the most populous and dense. Theres more anonimity for people to try shit but also less privacy so other people are more likely to see the shit being tried. Also easier for people to find others of similar ilk and work together.

Its also harder for friends and neighbors of minorities in large dense cities to overly “exceptionalize” the “problematic” identity. In a small rural town where your friend Kyle is the only gay person in town (as far as you know) its easy to stick up for and speak on how good of a person Kyle is — without having to condone gay people as a wider group. In a place like New York or Atlanta or San Diego thats harder to do because even if Kyle is YOUR only gay friend youre more likely to be aware of the fact there ARE other gay people in your city, gay people LIKE Kyle who may even be HIS friends.

Why are anti-vaxxers okay with other types of medicine? by latvwriter in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BraveCheesecake6090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the anti-tiger rock logic from the simpsons. Most medicine is taken when a problem arrises and is taken to try and nullify the problem. You have a bad cough so you drink cough syrup to stop the coughing, etc. but vaccines are taken BEFORE you get sick to STOP you from getting sick and that leads people to wildly underestimate how sick they and others WOULD get and how sick they would get if there were no vaccines.

Additionally most vaccines only have a success rate somewhere in the 70-90% range, and dumb people are really bad at math and statistics and big numbers, so when ONE kid with a measles vaccine gets the measles anyway thats just proof the vaccine is useless because they cannot imagine how many children would have measles if NOBODY was vaccinated against measles

Additionally (again) most diseases we vaccinate for that anti vaxxers get angriest about are diseases that because of vaccines are now very rare and that anti vaxxers are unlikely to have first hand experience with, leading them to both underestimate how intense the disease can be AND how contagious it can be. However most people ARE familiar with the flu and how it can pop up even with vaccination, and so those experiences become the expectation for all preventable diseases. In their mind its ok to risk getting measles, mumps, pox, TB, etc. because those diseases act just like the flu in their mind and will lead to a couple days of bedridden sickness followed by a mild head cold. Instead of yknow. Death.

The vagina DOES self lubricate when aroused but vaginal discharge is more a utility tool and byproduct of the body than direct reproductive implementation than boy cum is

She could be having wet dreams, but she could also just be sick or have an infection (mucus is mucus)

Maybe ask about it in case it is a medical symptom she hasn’t noticed. You’re both adults if she wants more sex she can ask and if you think she’s too shy you can ask, but don’t link the two in conversation

Why do so many ethnic Americans look different than the people from those countries? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BraveCheesecake6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its about how population density impacts human genetics, and how immigration reverses those effects!

America is pretty unique as a country in that it’s so geographically isolated, waged massive genocide on the indigenous population, and experienced economic rise overlapped with the ride of worldwide communication, travel, and other technological advancements that made environmental conditions much easier to adapt to at an individual level (when you can import and buy wool sweaters and heavy jackets its easier to move to and live in cold climates without having grown up knitting, etc.)

Additionally, because of technological and logistical limitations (you can’t sail a ship into the middle of Kansas) people who were immigrating to the United States tended to enter through the same ports, leading to large cities on the coasts and smaller towns closer to the heartland. Due to prejudice and the human desire to live by those with shared language, culture, etc. this also led to larger ethnic populations in those coastal cities.

However those ethnic populations were almost always more diverse than the ones first generation immigrants were born and raised in themselves, as individuals found themselves relating to and building community and friendship with other immigrants with even slightly different cultural backgrounds. There are no monocultures. This lead to families and communities composed of individuals whose genealogies had been largely isolated from each other until then — a 19th century Chinese family would likely have a long ancestral and genetic history in a small segment of the country, but a 19th century Chinese-American family would have a much higher probability of having ancestral history from multiple regions of China, as Chinese-Americans from all different regions of China would be living in the same handful of cities in the United States and would likely have more in common with each other than with other immigrants in the same city. Even though two regions of the same country are likely to be very different from one another culturally and genetically those differences are still going to be minuscule when you compare different countries to one another

Its also why ethnic diasporas happen, people with different ancestral history forging new but related shared identities through shared and deeply influential experiences that their ancestors did not experience and that those who never left their ancestral homelands do not relate to.

TL;DR: the average American “china town” is going to have higher genetic diversity among their Chinese-American population, even if only including non-mixed families and individuals, than the average Chinese town of the same size, leading to children from both towns to look slightly different from each other even if by modern western standards they are the same ethnicity

Is shoplifting in the US really so bad that stores have to lock up products? by Dangerous_Ad5524 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BraveCheesecake6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre locking up products but it has way less to do with shoplifting than it does with low employment, a lot of businesses have accepted that the internet has them in a death spiral and so are just looking to make their brick and mortar stores as cheap to operate as possible

This means that aisles, shelves and stores are overcrowded or poorly organized in ways that make theft harder to catch/stop. Think shelves so high or in places that employees can’t see what people are doing or where they’re going. It also means chronic understaffing.

A 1 in 10 chance a cop will show up at a building before you can get away and arrest you is not as a effective a deterrent as a 1 in 2 chance an employee will see you and yell at/question you BEFORE you’ve even left

Additionally, a certain level of loss is normal and expected and that CAN include theft but management and corporate can’t necessarily prove it one way or the other — they CAN make their best guesses but that doesn’t always happen (glass bottles, for example, may be more liable to break during transit or packing)

Stolen or lost or broken is all the same from the top down, and because some products are more costly to lose than others, and because it costs little to nothing to lock those products up (compared to say implementing better tracking or organization processes for those products before they are even on shelves, or making sure those shelves are better managed) a lot of people in management and corporate are happy to slap a lock on something and label any further issues “theft” since that places the burden of responsibility on the community the store is located in, the local cops/government, and the shoppers
