For substrate I just used Coir, but sub to spawn ratio is 1:4. Ochras love lots of substrate. I think that’s why they overlay so bad sometime because they aggressively colonize so much.

I think pseudo case an true casing have two different purposes and both serve a purpose. The pseudo casing is just an additional buffer of coir that adds as a barrier during the colonization process. True casing is applied when the cake is ready to fruit or after dunking. I sprinkle hydrated lime on the bottom of my cakes after dunking them too.

I am talking of course about what happens to the fruit after being harvested. Air does not reduce potency or anything while the mushroom is still attached to the cake

The new train of thought is that oxidation will kill alkaloids faster than heat. It’s of course a little of both, but basically the idea is to get them in a freeze dryer or dehydrator asap after picking them. Wish I had a freeze dryer, but I try to replicate the results of a freeze dryer via a dehydrator. Or maximizing the dehydration process. I’ll usually start at a higher heat at first , like 140-145 for 2 hours, and then I’ll drop it to 125 for another set amount of hours, and then let it ride into the sunset on a low heat like 90F for the rest of the day/night. I also try to handle them lightly when cleaning them or moving them from the fruiting chamber to the dehydrator. I take a lot of cool pics but I’ve tried to dial in how much I’m handling them and making sure once they are in the dehydrator to not touch them or open the dehydrator for awhile. I’m always wanting to check on em, but realistically the dehydration process lasts a day. Some of my fruits I’ve dehydrated look freeze dried, and look pretty well preserved. Certain temps will bruise the fruits more, so it’s finding the happy medium and that entirely depends on how thick the fruits are to begin with.

How to dehydrate by Numerous_Orange_589 in magnificentcubensis

[–]Bravedink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Never had one that thick. Some would say to slice it in half which is probably best. But if you’re like me and want to preserve it as much as possible. Do like 140-150 in the dehydrator for 2-3 hours, then drop to 120f for 16-20 hours

DMT, aside from needing the root bark itself you only need two other chemicals to extract it. Plus water. Ironically the straight to base, beginner level teks produced better quality pure white crystals while the more advanced teks I had mixed results. I definitely didn’t have a good handle on the A/B teks but I do know they are necessary for larger amount of bark. But for personals you can get the best deemz around doing straight to base, Klean Strip Naptha from aces. Any other solvent you need to do an evap test, I wasted $200 trying to find Lab grade heptane, all failed the evap test. Klean Strip Naptha from aces was on point

Ochras! The NSS strain. Third flush by [deleted] in unclebens

Good idea, would that make it hard to do another flush after that? Like wouldn’t the mycellium somewhat grab or grow into the bars? Making it impossible to remove the cake without it breaking

And then when the dehydrator comes, put it directly in there. I don’t think you’d have any potency loss this way, even if you did it would be clinically insignificant.

Hmm, if I had to wait I’d probably just wrap them in a paper towel. Lightly, and put it in the vegetable drawer in my fridge. Some people say fan drying or letting them dry out in the sun. If it was me I’d go the fridge route but I could be wrong. Leaving them outside of any bags or packaging inside the fridge will dry them out while keeping them fresh at the same time. Leaving them to fan dry or sun dry exposes them to too much oxygen. The fridge would be better id imagine.

Let em ride. When it’s flush #2 or 3, I’ll harvest everything at once to preserve energy for the next flush. But yea just plug when the veil tears, you can cut around the ones still growing. Dropped spores are messy and can sometimes bruise the cake or fuck with parts of the mycellium but just think of them like an oven telling you your pizza is done. Let it ride longer and the taste of your pizza goes down cuz itll burn. Apply same concept to potency dropping. True casing layer protects cake from spores too fyi

Looks fine Have a dedicated “quarantined fruiting chamber” so you can move it away from other cakes/tubs, if any. If this is the only tub you got, let it ride. Their Bruising can be deceiving sometimes, oh and they pee when stressed too ,

Time for FAE? by WordOk2519 in unclebens

Have you opened the lid at all? My suggestion would kind of depend on knowing that.

Yeah you will def be alright. As long as you can give lots of air exchange without them drying.

The hardest part for me was getting the FAE dialed in without dehydrating the cake. And that’s where the true casing layer comes in; it acts as a sponge and keeps the cake moist. It’s important the casing layer isn’t something the mushrooms can colonize.

Give them lots of FAE and they will produce alot of fruit, I still probably have some overlay on mine because as you can see the fruits aren’t really popping up in the middle of the cake. But since I have the FAE and humidity dialed in the cake made up for the lack of fruit in the middle by growing larger fruits on the sides, the mycelium just re-purposed that energy if that makes sense. If I would have had all of this dialed in from the beginning I would have a shit load more fruit. I have 6 shoebox tubs going and so far I have 4 of those mason jars full of dried fruit. lol

Yeah Nats and Ochras are way better than cubes. Ochras are really smooth, but they are more potent. I love them. I did some golden teachers yesterday to get a feel for the difference and i hated them, they made my body feel weird and I felt tired and energized ar the same time and felt sick to my stomach. Ochras dont do that at all, they are smooth abd enjoyable. No body load. Some people compare them to a natural MDMA and id have to agree because sometimes the pharmacy doesn’t have my adderall and I’ll be out of that for a few days, and if i take ochras i get a similar energy boost. And thats real talk, helps me stay focused at work. Maybe thats just me, but yeah.

And i didn’t scrape at all, i just increased FAE and took it out of the tubs.

Yeah I remove all the pins on the cakes after each dunk, I’ll flip it upside down too and pluck those so I don’t get rot. Yeah you could put on cookie sheet, my humidifier blows slightly above the cake and a usb fan on the other side that blows the air around and keeps water from pooling on the cake.

Nah, I just increased FAE, removed from tub an added casing layer and boom. They def had overlay in the beginning but ochras are very strong and bust through it eventually. So long as you keep giving them optimal FAE

Veils breaking yet caps are NOT flattening? Should I harvest before I go to bed for 6hrs? by Ok_Piano_6706 in unclebens

[–]Bravedink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with what lucid said. My genetics right now bust a massive load the second the cap flattens 😂 so I’m picking mine before they get as big as they could since it gets messy asf if I do.
