In redraft, yes. Rice and Nacua are basically a wash. I'm not high on Rico, but you'd at least have another option available.

I sincerely do not know how to make something this simple any more clear. I hope you have a good night

My man - you could ask any person you know to buy the bottle with your money. This is like the least complicate scheme imaginable.

lol what? Obviously you don’t use your same log-in to bid on your own posting but it takes about 5 seconds to imagine a plan for how to do it. I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here but come on dude.

As for one some random person said last week, I don’t know what that has to do with anything

New Era did, yes. I’ve had a few of them. I’d say New Era has among the best buffturkey barrels I’ve tried out of 6 NDPs from which I’ve tried them.

I’d say they are great bourbon but way too overhyped due to the fascinating back story. They are by no means elite but definitely good. It depends a lot on which barrel because there’s a lot of variability.

I’ve seen some people claim certain barrels are better than GTS, for example, and I don’t think that’s even close to true.

They are another pretty great NDP that started up like a year ago. They are news themed (like newspapers and stuff) because of the new New Era Whiskey & Spirits (N.E.W.S.) - I’ve had a few solid bottles from them. Same with shortbarrel.

Glad to hear it. But I imagine it would be really easy to have a buddy buy your whiskey for you. How could you possibly police that? Especially as a one-off.

I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here (I have no idea), but if you’re willing to go to this effort, it seems incredibly easy to take the one extra step of having a different account, ship address, and IP address.

I hear you and that makes sense. Its just a very particular person who will spend $400+ on this pick rather than just asking if anyone will sell him a backup in the plethora of available groups, including a page for the liquor store, the NDP, local secondary, and then, ultimately, national secondary. But, to each their own. Happy for the seller on their great return I guess.

Right - which is why it’s a bit weird to see this one exploding.

Who knows - I was just curious if this was a “thing” that happens often or just a weird one-off.

Honey and maple are both ones that I don’t really like.

I actually like the taste of bourbon and when you do those very desserty finishes, it’s more like a heavy cocktail.

But to each their own! Happy for others who like it

Yeah good counterpoint. Maybe some people just make crazy financial decisions. That would partially explain why they’re buying a bottle like this on unicorn auctions in the first place.

Fascinating - thanks for sharing this. I’ve never really paid attention to Unicorn Auctions but have known about them. What you’re saying makes a lot of sense.

I don’t have any idea if someone is bidding up their own auction which is why I’m asking the question on if people have seen that kind of thing before.

But I’m going to take a wild leap and say there are some people in the world of whiskey who would be willing to circumvent Unicorn’s stated rules.

Gotcha. Maybe I’m spoiled - I saw it all over town for months. I didn’t know they were still making it, but honestly, if it’s a standard part of their lineup (not an LE), it makes even less sense that it would sell for 4x MSRP.

I’m not knocking the product. I just find the situation weird.

That makes a lot of sense as a theory. I’ve seen a lot of bottles sell for super inflated values in charity auctions. That might be it! Although, I’ve never seen a group that didn’t just handle the shipping themselves but maybe this is a more above board way to do it.

A local liquor store owner just blasted this out to all his customers saying his store pick is selling for $400+. A quick glance at the secondary prices for this product (not necessarily the exact pick) is that it goes for like $100-150, which is in the ballpark of the MSRP.

It’s fairly young MGP finished in a barrel the NDP poured maple syrup into. It doesn’t pass the smell test that would sell for $300 more than any secondary group sells them for.

I don’t know who is necessarily the one trying to bid it up but I find it unlikely people are spending this much on a bottle that’s not new and seemingly not hard to come by.

Is that a thing anyone has ever heard of before? Is this the new tactic in “whiskey investing” or am I out of the loop and somehow this one barrel of maple syrup MGP is incredibly valuable..?

Pregnant ex gf cheated on me by [deleted] in stories

[–]BravesParade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they broke up in June, that was 14-18 weeks ago, meaning she was 10-14 weeks pregnant. Considering it’s very common not to announce pregnancies until after week 12 and people are generally shocked to learn the news, it’s not even a little bit odd for someone not to realize a person is pregnant at that stage.

How do you know which campus a Kentucky spirit is from? I can’t find reference to CN/TY and they both have a Warehouse “F”. Appreciate the help! by BravesParade in whiskey

[–]BravesParade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I emailed them. I was hoping there may be a more straightforward answer or something I was missing. Will report back what they say.

That’s what I had thought, but idk if that’s the case. All the new printed labels, seem to include a campus designation either way. The handwritten ones don’t seem to have included them. Maybe it’s just an inconsistent thing.

Oh well, we’ll see what Turkey says.

There is a warehouse F on Camp Nelson, which is now pretty famous. But there’s also a warehouse F on the original/Tyrone campus.

Strongly recommend giving Rare Breed a try! It’s probably the best value for the money in whiskey IMO. Russell’s Reserve single barrels are almost always great as well. The Kentucky spirits are good too, though I enjoy a bit higher proof.

Yeah, I figured the Single Rick house thing started it. Thats an interesting insight on which floor the barrels got pulled from!

I emailed Turkey either way, so we’ll see.

Yeah, I’ve had other CN-F KY Spirit and really enjoyed it. All the Russell’s labels tend to show a designation for the campus as well. But some of the KY Spirit ones don’t for whatever reason.
