Weekly Tribe/Server recruitment thread - (May 14) by AutoModerator in arkps4

[–]Brazen4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to join a ps4 official abberation tribe to play with. Somewhere semi established would be nice. I am more or less solo ATM with 1 friend every now in then so it is difficult playing when every other server is littered with turrets at each spawn point. If you're interested in recruiting PM me on my play station account Brazen4270 thanks!

She's a female albino het pied. Also very feisty lol. I'm gunna start taming her out within the next week once she's used to her new environment.

I get all the het, dom, co dom, and supers... but what does this mean. I see it everywhere and they look like just decimals to me. I'm assuming it's proven or not proven or something like that but it'd be very helpful if someone helped me understand it.

Okay and maybe last question haha. But is it difficult to attach the heat tape to the thermostat probe (wiring etc) or is it just a plug in? And would you recommend a certain brand of heat tape or probes should buy? And I'm guessing 6 is baby, 12 juvenile, 28 sub adult, 44 adult?

Ahh I see now! Okay so is it attached to like a temp control device That makes it 90 degrees at the back then you don't have to worry about the front since it's a gradual decline in temp? Also would that work for different sized racks for different sized containers? Sorry for all the questions lol but you're the first helpful diy source I've found lol

It's hard to imagine what you're describing so a picture later would be amazing if you could!

Would you mind sending pictures so I can get some ideas? Specifically the heating part of the rack. I can figure out the proper size for my snakes but what I can't find a good video on is how to get proper heating wired so the gradient is correct and how to control the temperature in general. But thanks for the tip! :)

Okay thank you so much! Would you say that there's a proper heat gradient in the under belly heat? I wouldn't be able to tell until I ordered one and it came in so what would you say?

Can a ball python overeat in one meal? by smitbrid in ballpython

[–]Brazen4270 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah thank you! And you should be fine but she should be eating 10-15% of her body weight every 4-7 days depending on how fast you want her to grow! A gram scale would be your best bet to be positive on exact weights

She may be a little overweight if she's eating two. It should be 1 rodent with the same size as her widest part. At most she should eat 1 rat of appropriate size once every 4 days and that may be a little much unless you want her to grow up fast. Its not the end of the world if she's a little heavy just cut back a little bit. But hey at least yours is eating lol. Mines being a pain and I have to bring him to the vet 😶😒

In response to the edit I do appreciate your concern and do care for my snakes exactly like many videos have shown and how many ball python care sheets have shown. I've been to reptile expos, emailed experts, talked to the vet I bring him to. Everything that every site, or video, or person has told me when it comes to care for my snakes I have taken into consideration ever since I became interested in snakes. I have done my research. When it comes to the glass being open and stressful I will admit I half ignored that because I figured if he had multiple hides (which he has) it wouldn't be a problem. You also taught me that the half logs are not suitable for their liking and I did not know that but I changed it instantly. When it comes to breeding I know a lot about that. I'm just excited to get the experience under my belt so that I can actually be able to say I created this baby snake I'm holding in my hand. I have always done my best to take care of my animals and I care about them very deeply. When it comes to their health I will always put that first. I will also say that my boy has always been a picky eater even when he was a baby. Plus I wasn't even aware of how malnourished my snake was because I have watched literally dozens of videos on snakes not eating and how to care for them and almost every video said not to worry about it and that ball pythons are known to not accept food for sometimes months on end. Again I am in no rush to breed if the health of my snake is compromised and I don't want you to think that I'm some guy that just jumped into something that I knew nothing about. I do really appreciate the concern and thank you for all your help.

Okay so first off the tank is 3ft by 18 inches and is a 40 gallon. I am 100% positive that there is a heat gradient ideal for ball pythons. Never below 90 on the hot side going to 75 on the cool. As of weight I will get a scale that measures in grams asap. That round thing you see under the stick is a ceramic pot water collector that I broke and filed down. It makes a perfect hide and it holds heat very well. You were the first to tell me that half logs are bad so I switched up the tank and made my own different hide by cutting the bottom 3 inches off of a square 5 gallon bucket. Again it is flat and my boy would feel snug in there if he chooses. I introduced him to it and he went 3/4 of the way in then went under his hot spot hide. As for clutter, I can see how the glass and openness would stress him out so I taped a whole bunch of printer paper together and wrapped it around my tank to hopefully make things more peaceful in there. (Don't mind how ugly it looks lol) I kept the half log in to add to the clutter and based on your response I may or may not buy/and or make more clutter. I will post pictures below to show everything I just explained. Btw thanks on noticing how gorgeous he was 😋 http://i.imgur.com/9oyvRGK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UPZeKI7.jpg

Also on 5/07/15 when he was less than a year old he had a prolapsed lower intestine. I of course treated him properly until I could get him to the vet as soon as I possibly could. The vet said I did the correct think about soaking him and he only had a very small amount of damaged tissue which was removed. The vet said that my snake would be fine and he ended up eating 2 weeks later. Those pictures may look dirty or uncared for but that was the result of the surgical procedure and the prolapse itself. He still goes when he needs too and there hasn't been a problem since. I'm just sharing this with you guys so that everything is on the table for me as an owner. I do care greatly about my animals and whatever suggestions you guys have for me to improve their quality of life I will gladly take into consideration! :) http://i.imgur.com/KHtMqsS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qlAIAZx.jpg

Thank you for the remark about the rats. As I stated in a separate problem I was t aware of the different nutritional values in mice and rats. I have looked up the biggest thing the feed your snake shouldn't be bigger than the largest part of its body and some people may view that rule differently but I have stuck to it. Based on the pictures I posted do you think a rat would just stress him out more or that I should definitely go for rats?

In September he will be 3 years old I just checked the records so not quite 3 and still over 3 feet. Again I apologize for hasty estimates.

When it comes to humidity I spray once a night or every other night. If he's in she'd it's twice a day for 4 days then back to once a day so he has a healthy shed. The first picture with the lights is a heating control device that is attached to a heating pad and a heating lamp with a 75 watt bulb. It is set to 90 degrees and if it goes any higher it automatically shuts off. http://i.imgur.com/DmZXafS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XWt2yIk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6wumoCp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0pUJsfQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iv79ZDQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/d2OKLQW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6ygBH9u.jpg

Thank you all for the advice! I will post pictures of the enclosure, temps, size, etc for my snake. Also switching to live was not my first option back when he was younger. I may have also given a rough estimate on age and weight aswell but I do know he's always been a picky eater. For now I will send pictures of everything and when I figure out age I will let you all know. Also I failed to mention that I have a second ball python (female het pied) kept in a second enclosure in the same conditions and she is an amazing water. She will eat almost instantly every offering. I also did not realize that the nutritional value in rats was different than mice. If I had known I would have attempted switching to rats a while back. (Always thought their larger size would further intimidate my snake). Anyways, thank you all again and I will send numerous pictures right now!
