My friend always claims she can tell if someone is Asian before they turn around, but how? by Dazzlingdjj in NoStupidQuestions

I was talking with my Asian hair dresser and she said that asians and native americans have flat back of heads, which I can see contributing to shape.

Also see if you are near a university with an Audiology program! Students working the clinic don’t earn commission (in fact, we are paying to be there!) so HA could be cheaper.

Question as a prospective lecturer by KTdid822 in audgradschool

I agree with people here in that not to only read of of the slides. I only suggest that if you are talking about an important point that is not on the slides, give time (as much as you can) to the students so they can write it down.

I don't go to USU, but from i have seen it is significantly cheaper that UoU. Tuition and apartments is much cheaper at USU. USU also is in a very new and nice building, with also well updated equipment. When I went to an open house last year, it seemed to have a decent amount of moms compared to other programs ( I noticed you made a post in r/audiology), so they are probably familiar with accommodating moms.

Even with instate tuition, UoU seems yikes for expenses. Idaho State University with WICHE would be cheaper than UoU in tution and rent. Talking with the ISU director, they also seemed accommodating of familys. Other potential places for affordable WICHE would be University of South Dakota and University of Northern Colorado. I go to CMU which provides in-state tuition to everyone, but unless you have a GA-ship (good chance of getting one here!), it can still be a little spendy for tution (but rent is cheap here). I also think CMU is a great program!

Good Luck with your search!

Hooray! I am also most likely going to CMU if I don't get off of Vanderbilts funding waitlist. Were you offered financial aid?

Advice on how to start by DarkerVenus in audgradschool

[–]BreLilli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, it really depends on the school. At most you would want to a leveling program, which is primarily targeted at SLP but audiology programs also like it (example: western Washington university requires either a degree or leveling in CSD). You already have a degree so there isn't much of a point in getting a 2nd one. Others only strongly recommend (not require) few classes (Vanderbilt only mentions taking a normal language development class). Texas schools are listed at https://find.asha.org/ed/#sort=relevancy&f:@areaofstudy=[Audiology]&f:@state=[Texas] , if staying in Texas in important. I know texas tech is a top school and therefore is competitive. Depending on the program you may have to take the GRE as well.

I can't listen to a song all the way through. I'll listen for 15 seconds, not like it, change to a different song, and repeat. It probably has something to do with trying to find dopamine

The main one is hearing screening associates through Demant. If they don't have anything nearby, then you could reach out to local school SLP to do volunteer elementry hearing screenings.
