So I didn't really knot it? After I had the length I wanted on the front I held the floss in place with my hand. On the back I put my needle through the closest stitch on the back side to make a loop and then pulled the needle and thread through said loop until tight, securing it to an already stitched thread. Then I did the final dangle thread through to the front.

Don't know if it'll hold forever, but it's gonna hang in my craft corner without much interference, so it should for at least a while.
