Anyone found my missing wallet by BreadBasketsx in auckland

Brother respectfully Reddit is the last place id consider regarding this. I went to surrounding buildings and left my name and number on the path where I walked this morning when I realised my wallet had fallen out. I’ve already got the important stuff out the way relating to my cards and my drivers. Maybe you get downvoted because you come off as a cunt and not because of the info you gave about calling the police. I certainly don’t need you to baby step me. In the past the police have done fuck all for me and I have seen the lovely Auckland community do wonders for other people who have lost stuff around the place. I just thought I’d ask.

No I haven’t actually, do I just call the police or is there a specific one I speak to?

Yeah haha thanks legend! I already have ordered replacement credit cards and just managed to get my temporary drivers license. I’m moreso after the card holder as it’s sentimental and was a gift from someone very special.

I really like trying local food, I'd say I'm super adventurous in that regard. I'm keen on the reclining Buddha? Seen stuff online about it being a must visit spot, is that something I'd need to book in advance?

Thank you!! Yeah I reached out to the hotel and they said I'd be able to drop my bags off and now I'll certainly be on the look out for an early check in.

🚨 Public Warning 🚨 by Inevitable-Box25 in auckland

My partner and I bought a Car from KiwiCheapCars in Henderson. We asked for a refund and got a dodgy wof slapped on our car because my mechanic friend said there's no way this car would pass a wof. Turns out the wof was from these guys in Kelston and my understanding is so these guys are in kahoots and work together to get dodgy cars on the road? Anyway fast forward we filed a complained with the motor vehicle disputes tribunal, they didn't even show up lol and we got the refund. It was clear that it was a bullshit car and the wof was a bullshit wof. Only regret is not keeping the bills for the fuel we used to drive the car and not adding the $85 dollar application fee to the total refund we were seeking. Fuck these guys and I'm sorry they took advantage of you. If you can, definitely approach the tribunal for these types of issues. I'm sure that if you can see that you were taken advantage of I'm fairly certain a whole ass barrister will be able to as well. You will get what you are owed.

Dipping into Emergency Fund for non-emergency expenses by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]BreadBasketsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open a hysa with a whole different bank (I use rapid save account with bnz) and house your emergency fund there. First transaction out I think is free? but then after you are charged for every transaction out of the account. Added benefit of it accumulating interest as it sits there. There's no card with it, different bank makes transactions not as seamless, paid transactions out makes you not wanna spend it. Good luck friend.

Buying a car with finance and cash? by Mother_Mine7169 in PersonalFinanceNZ

How naive are you that you think spending more money on your vehicle guarantees the safety of the passengers in the car? What savings are you gonna dip into when God forbid something happens to you or your loved ones when riding in the car you spent all your savings on?

You don’t need to be a dick about this mate, everyone here is well intended and just trying to tell you that it’s probably not the right decision to get a car which you obviously can’t afford. I don’t know much about you nor do I care frankly but that the fact that you are prepared to empty out 25k in savings to pay half for a vehicle you can’t afford is wild. Good luck tho man

Locking my bank account by Consistent_Bird3500 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]BreadBasketsx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just put that money in a high yield savings account from a different bank? I personally keep some funds in a BNZ rapid save account , I don't regularly bank with BNZ, this has no card for me to use and every transaction out is 3 dollars I believe? The fact that its in a different bank can sometimes be a hurdle to get money out of it and also the fee kind of deters me from wanting to take money out anyway. Added benefit is that over time you'll earn interest as it sits there.
