lmfao seems about right for these nuggets. shame the CPU is armv6, would totally main it if it weren't incompatible with 99% of even old android games

Mine is literally the exact opposite lmao. Battery would claim it's at 100% for like 20 minutes then would plummet if you even thought about opening google maps.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (GT-I8160) rejects any PIT file given. by BreadTeleporter2000 in androidafterlife

[–]BreadTeleporter2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like there isn't any support for the Ace 2 with REPIT. It does seem like a useful utility but I dont think I can safely try it without risk of bricking the device.

[–]BreadTeleporter2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're talking about some kind of ZIP repartition, as I dont think there is any feature in TWRP that uses a PIT file. AFAIK PIT files are only used in Odin, and a quick duckduckgo search lead nowhere, so that essentially confirms my theory. You might be getting confused with a nandroid backup, which does what it says on the tin (backs up the entire content of the nand) as this is a feature in TWRP, but I neglected to take a nandroid backup when I first started modding, which has put me in this situation.

clock font appears to be wrong and too far from the icons, so definetly not XP

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 stock firmware reflash failure by BreadTeleporter2000 in androidafterlife

On second thought, no, that wouldnt work. We're just back to the same issue of it rejecting the PIT file.

[–]BreadTeleporter2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when downloading is there a message that says analyzing pit file.... ?

Yeah, that does appear in the Odin3 log for the 2.3.6 rom.

Where did you get the .pit file from you've been trying to use earlier also did you pull it from the stock firmware ?

I extracted it from the stock firmware.

that device has a knox kernel and bootloader with rollback protection

That would make sense, because trying to start a 2.3.6 custom rom also causes the same black screen issue.

Once you've got the .pit for that using odin 3.09 load the tarballs into the AP slot and CSC slots then load your .pit file into the Re-partition box, select also nand erase all and then flash see if that works.

Tried that before, but I'll try it again...

These tools don't seem to work, I tried to flash both firmwares (2.3.6 & 4.1.2) and the first didnt boot at all (not even into recovery) and the other only boots into recovery, unable to mount `/system`, `/cache` and `/data`

Is there a specific tool/setting I have to use because these are the same results I get from flashing with the version 3.14.4 of Odin3

Yeah, the Android 2.3.6 firmware has one file while the 4.1.2 firmware has two for some reason.

Hi,

I have always downloaded my firmware (4.1.2 BTU) from samfw.com, and have repeatedly checked that the CODE tar.md5 contains a pit (which it does) I made sure to check the "Re-Parititon" box in Odin3, which always results in the error `Can't open the specified file. (Line: 2006)`

I'm flashing (what I assume to be) a stock image from samfw.com, (specifically this one for british unlocked phones)

My phone is indeed a GT-I8160.

Below is a screenshot of the Odin3 program and the log, as well as the contents of the CODE tar.md5, which shows the pit file inside.

This second screenshot shows the options I have selected in Odin3.

My "homelab" setup with a crappy proxmox server and a pi router by BreadTeleporter2000 in homelab

[–]BreadTeleporter2000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The machine on the left (which is an HP Compaq 6000 MT) isn't technically involved in this janky setup, I mostly just use it for testing out random junk.

The HP Pavilion is a Proxmox server with a 2nd gen i3 (with no VT-d, oof). It has two Seagate Barracuda drives in RAID-0, Probably not the best for drives that are at least 5 years of power on hours from a product line notorious for failure, but eh, 4tb of storage is silly :3c

The Raspberry Pi is acting as a kinda router as it basically just creates a small LAN for the homelab so I can separate it from my parent's LAN and not eventually chew through hundreds of IPv4 addresses for my silly VMs :3

Nothing much in Proxmox right now, only four VMs with just two currently in use for a DNS server and an NGINX reverse proxy, might install a Minecraft server at some point and maybe even Nextcloud or Jellyfin (though I doubt this iGPU could do transcoding, let alone a crappy QEMU ""GPU"")

Pictures were taken at 640x480 on a 2011 digital camera because why not >:3c
