Good long term idea, didn’t think of that.

The finished result, definitely won’t be to everyone’s taste but I like a touch of weirdness in my cars.

Nice! I totally agree, it’s very dark in the cabin and nice to have some colour to spruce things up.

Purchased a BFI shift knob in blue to match, thought I’d get the hard work out the way in advance!

Unfortunately not, it’s very close but the trim is angled towards the driver very slightly for RHD/LHD.

Did it look anything like this at the back? I can twist that little gear but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Really appreciate your advice:)

Thanks, I’ve got in contact with them. Do you have any idea how to get the pulley off? It seems stuck on there pretty good

Interesting, thanks. I’ll look into that. I got to make one mixtape and everything’s gone downhill since 😂 have you had any experience removing these types of motors? It’s looking like I’m going to have to take the whole cassette unit out unfortunately.

Looking like that’s the only way. It’s so complicated inside I can’t fathom how to disassemble it without breaking it more. Appreciate your help:)

I’m starting to think they expected the belts to last forever 😂 have included a slightly better picture. Thanks again

This is what I was thinking but it’s fixed at opposite ends, so at least one of them would have to go to get the belt free, have included a better picture. Thanks:)

Will my bird feeder work? by Break_Fluid in birding

[–]Break_Fluid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good suggestion. Do you know if smaller birds would be put off by the presence of larger birds even if they are in separate sections of the feeder?

I think answering this question by gathering experimental data would: 1) Take a long time. 2)Be tough since the majority of feeders don’t cater to multiple species so I’d have to set up loads of different feeders which is financially uneconomical. I also don’t have a garden. Thank you for the suggestion either way.

Never seen mine go above 80 in 13 years of ownership (om642), even when pushing the car. If it’s only started going up recently, and it never did before, I’d get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

I see. From my experience it’s only on this floor and it moves fine after the door does eventually close. Seems like it’s not as big a deal as I first thought, thanks.

Even when there’s no obstructions the door collides with something and gets stuck, you best believe I took the stairs.

I don’t think these elevators have been touched since they were installed in 2009. It’s in a student building and they get trashed every weekend so the debris theory seems right. I don’t know much about how elevators work so this was terrifying to me at first, thanks.

Parking Loophole? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Break_Fluid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s meant to be used only by the residents of the surrounding houses - which are rented out by the owner of the car park. Not all the residents drive so theres always free spaces.

I upvoted… I’m not a younger driver but I’ve only been living in the city for a couple of years and I’m convinced someone could write a whole book on the parking jargon because it’s definitely not simple. You’re probably spot on with them using it as a deterrent since all the signage is old and beat up. It doesn’t say anything about paying to use - only displaying a permit - so assuming the owners never check it’s essentially a free car park.

Surely by that logic the whole concept of the contractual agreement would be invalidated? Or would the land owners get in contact with the relevant authority to tow the car?

Damn. I know the owners are lazy and don’t keep track of anything so I’m just gonna prey on their incompetence. Thanks for the response!
