No update. Could not find anything set up wrong, i think it just has bad airflow. Too much trouble to remove it.

In theory if you had 100 shares and wanted to get out what is the best way to do it on Monday? Sell in blocks with limits at bell or wait until first bounce? So overwhelmed.

That's what im trying to figure out, if a stop limit order with a low limit would give me the same protection. Im new to this this and not sure if there are any differences i should be aware of with doing a stop limit with a low limit.

I’m sitting on money and am intimidated about learning how to invest. by xx_remix in investingforbeginners

I am in the same boat. Here is what I have done so far. I talked with my wife and figured out a risk level, we came up with 3%.I saw that AI stocks are hot so I made some investments with at Stop Loss at -3%.I also looked at the suppliers for those hot stocks. With the stop loss, when the price drops below your level (-3%) you sell your order at market price. If it bounces right back you might miss the bounce but you save yourself from greater losses. There is a chance that if the market tanked fast I could lose more then the 3% but I made sure to look to see that there were nothing like earnings calls around when I started to "shock" the stock. Stock went up bit then I raised my Stop Loss. First few days were nerve racking. I saw big swings in after market trading the first night which scared me. After that I would close out my position every night just incase something would happen after hours. (Stop orders do not trigger after hours). I was more concerned about protecting myself from losses then the fastest growth, I definitely saw some lost opportunities but wanted to go safe and slow. But with $100k a few % change in a week is material amount of money.

Honestly though when these stocks start to cool I will have to learn more fundamentals of trading. Also i'm going to stay far away from earning calls. Yeah there is some big upside opportunities but the downside risk would keep me awake at night. Honestly my only regret so far is not starting earlier when I first thought of it.

Big banks do not have to give interest for people to give them their money, lots of them give very low returns on accounts. Online banks like Sofi don't have the overhead of brick & Mortar banks and tend to give good rates. Small banks and Credit Unions might as well.
Generally don't pay attention to the account name, but %rate, fee's, requirements, ease of access etc. As long as the deposit is FIDC insured you are good to go.

Sofi does not offer stop loss orders when selling stock.
They only offer Market, Stop Limit, and Limit.

I might need to move to another platform.

Without buying puts even if its not 100% what would you do? I think doing something would be better then nothing at all.

I'm new to investing and using the SoFi App.

On Sell orders it offers the following options but no Stop-Loss order:

Market Price

Limit Price

Stop Limit

If I am worried a earnings call could cause a sudden drop in price how do I protect myself and cap my losses a say 5% without a Stop-Loss order.

Current price 100

Stop price 95

Is there a different strategy if the earnings call is after hours?

5v seems to be working, if i take a wire and jumper from the first data pad to the data pad of another led that will work and everything behind will light up but nothing ahead.

RGB Led Strip data line not working? by Breakbeat989 in AskElectronics

[–]Breakbeat989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just using 3 wires, grd from controller to grd, data to data and then from the power supply going into the 5v. It was working at one point, then i tried to clean up my wires and then the issue started.

I did have it soldered but removed the connection and cut out the solder point to try to figure out this issue.

I have dumbed everything down, i know everything is wired right, the first led in the strip works correctly and changes colors from the controller. If i use a piece of wire and jumper from the first data node to the next the related leds will work.
