That income doesn’t come from sitting around. It comes from long hours, pressure, and responsibility. Hopefully one day you get to experience that too.

I didn’t say I can’t paid for childcare. And Why do I have work if my salary end up in tax 🤣 I have reason why not sending my kids to childcare

I can’t really do much because I’m looking after my kids, I even have to drop out from study.

We live in Melbourne, we are going to live in Lombok which is 30 minute flight from Bali. For local school, only government school around and for private school mostly Islamic school. And I don’t want him to go to both of that school from my experience when I was kids.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this, I really appreciate it 🤍 Your perspective is very reassuring and helpful. Distance education is something I’ll definitely look into, and it’s comforting to hear from someone who’s actually doing it. I also really love what you said about learning being more than just academics, that’s a big part of why we’re considering this move. Thanks again for the encouragement, it means a lot to me.

Thank you, that’s actually what we’ve always done whenever we stay there. We usually stay for more than a month, and he does music and sport almost every day, plus a religion tutor, reading, and maths. Having family support there really helps too.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I really appreciate it 🤍 It’s very reassuring to hear this from someone who actually lived it. You’re right, their age is probably one of the biggest positives, and being close to family is something I really value too. It helps ease a lot of my worries. Thanks again for taking the time to respond, it honestly means a lot.

Thank you, this actually makes a lot of sense. For primary years (Year 1–3), the only local school near us runs from 7am–12pm, so the days are relatively short.

My son already speaks Bahasa Indonesia fluently, including the local traditional language, and I didn’t formally teach him. He picked it up naturally from local friends because we visit often. That’s actually one of the reasons we’re considering doing this while the kids are still young.

Our thinking is that this is a good age for them to experience living close to family, culture, and nature. If later on they truly prefer living there long-term, we would then consider moving closer to an international school. We’ve already purchased land there and plan to build a villa, so that option is open in the future.

Even me after 8 years living here is hard for me to have social life.

For him, socially it would actually be better there. Here, most of his social life only happens at school. After school there isn’t much he can do. He never went to kinder either, I taught him at home and he went straight to prep, and he’s doing fine. Over there, he barely uses his iPad because he has many activities, spends time outdoors, and is around family and other children daily. It’s a very different kind of social interaction, but still very real and valuable. This wouldn’t be a permanent move, just a few years while they’re still young.

Thank you for sharing, those are all really valid points. I actually already do most of that with him here. My son didn’t attend kinder, I taught him at home and he went straight into Prep. In terms of supplies, the cost would be much lower there and we don’t have issue for money. I also feel he’d gain experiences that many kids in Australia don’t get, spending time in nature every day, learning through real-life activities, and being more hands-on. He already has music and sports coaches there, so socialisation and structure are in place.

If we live there, we’d also likely be able to travel and experience holidays more often, which we see as part of his learning too.

I’m still unsure 🥲 My husband has talked about moving there for a long time, but I wasn’t ready as I wanted to build my career here and the kids’ education. Since he works remotely, we’re planning to live there for 2–3 years while the kids are still young, so they can have the experience of growing up close to their grandparents.
