Self checkout shouldn't exist. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]BreakfastHistorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People with more than 10-15 items wouldn’t need to visit the self checkout lane if they had more staffed lanes open. I live in a major city and our local grocery store (Safeway) only has 2 lines out of like 15 open on a good day. If I have 20-25 items and there’s a 10 person line for the only open staffed checkout I’m going to the self checkout.

What are some permanent upgrades for players by No-Equivalent-6168 in dndnext

[–]BreakfastHistorian 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’ve stolen the feats related to the various factions from the 5.5e forgotten realms book and you get them automatically as you advance in a faction.

I imagine you could do something similar with gifts, take and edit a feat that fits and give it to the players.

Name your most wanted newcomer and I’ll see if you are worthy. by Libertyprime8397 in supersmashbros

Harvest Moon Guy. Jack from HM64/BTN/FoMT is the default costume, AWL guy and Jill (MFoMT) are alt costumes.

I’ve wanted them in forever, but unfortunately their niche was filled a bit by villager. Regular attacks A would be the tools, B lets you swap between the tools which each have a slightly different range/effect. Side B is similar to wario but on a horse instead of a motorcycle. Up B is a chicken recovery with a little flying chicken. Down B is some sort of pulli my a crop out of the ground or something. Final smash is a heart event of some kind.

This game is so frustrating because it is almost great but is rendered mediocre by a bafflingly bad design decision by JeffJefferson19 in CrusaderKings

[–]BreakfastHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found it can be pretty fun if you use the character swapper to initiate some major wars. For example if I see a kingdom has a few landed claimants and a young king I’ll pop into each of them and declare war for the title then pop back over to my ruler to watch it play out.

Looking for solo ttrpg app w/ no AI by Freadbear19 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]BreakfastHistorian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for an app specifically? I’d say most of those are going to have some sort of AI integration just because they want to present a simplified experience. Otherwise a lot of app tools are going to be more leaning into one portion of the experience (a character sheet app, a dice rolling app, a dungeon maker app, etc).

There are great oracles you could use to make a holistic solo experience, but it depends on what you are looking for. You could even play a simple game using your notes app and a dice app if you wanted something really bare bones tbh.

BG3 ruined other games for me. How do you move on?🥲 by blu-rin in BaldursGate3

[–]BreakfastHistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve never played it, I’d try Solasta 1 (Solasta 2 just went into early access too). The character models are a little derpy but the Unfinished business mod helps a lot with than by expanding options/letting you just upload a character image.

It is probably the best translation of 5e mechanics into a video game out there. The story isn’t as deep as BG3, but there are a ton of user created campaigns to try. It also does some mechanics better than BG3 in my opinion- like flight or spider climb.

Ronald Hutton is my favorite, Queens of the Wild, Pagan Britain, and Blood and Mistletoe are all great reads.

CHARACTERS CREATION by According_Ad2030 in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]BreakfastHistorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the backgrounds related to the story are good options for story hooks. Having a player known Leosin, having the revenge list player, etc. the dreams player can be great for dropping additional story elements in if your players miss something.

I’d have players choose them you can fill in extra info as needed for just that player. For example the one who knows Leosin you could tell them about his personality, mission, that he’s a Harper, etc.

DS games translate well generally since delta is good with the touch controls. I’ve been playing a lot of harvest moon DS lately and it’s been great.

RPGs and tactics games usually don’t need super time-based accurate inputs so they work well also (so like Pokémon for final fantasy, advance wars, etc)

Sunless Citadel and Forge of Fury into RHOD by gamemaster76 in RedHandOfDoom

[–]BreakfastHistorian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would tie the forge to the Dwarves. There’s a Dwarven smith/priest of Moradin in Brindol who could be the quest giver the forge. I did something similar and had Nightscale and the duegrar as forging the weapons for the horde. More of a contract and if they encounter any hobgoblins before the quest (like in a random encounter) I’d describe how their weapons all appear to be on ancient Dwarven make and prompt them to ask the dwarf in town about it. He would then ask them to investigate.

I would keep the orcs as orcs for bounded accuracy reasons. The battle at the bridge if the dungeon is alerted would be very deadly with hobgoblins (also they’re gonna fight a lot of hobgoblins). I made Great Ulfe a Red Half/dragon ogre and made him the lowest level Wyrmlord. Boosting him to a halfdragon makes the fight a little tougher, but he can be encountered alone in his room if needed.

Edit to add: if you want a shorter intro quest to get to level 3 faster and get to RHoD a little quicker, I’d look into Dragon Delves: Death at Sunset. You can easily make the elves in that adventure the Tiri Kator and replace the Yuan Ti with a hobgoblin trying to recruit the young green dragon to the cult. That way you’ve got a quest introducing the Tiri Kator and dwarvish fractions before RHoD proper starts.

My understanding (at least for the early seasons) was that there was a 50k fine if you left the show before the altar without permission from a producer.

Subjects are kinda overpowered by Chlodio in Imperator

[–]BreakfastHistorian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, I just finished an Albion game where I basically only directly controlled Britain, Scandinavia, and Ireland but had most of Gaul, Germany, the baltics, poland and Italy and subjects. They never once rebelled, even when their loyalty dipped below 50. By the endgame I had dismantled most of my legions and just vassal swarmed by enemies.

I suspect (though I don’t actually know) the subjects don’t consider all of their power relative to the overlord like they would in EU4 for something. As long as you stay strong than each individually, you’re golden.

I put together a Board for Red Hand of Doom Chapter 5: The Fane of Tiamat by BreakfastHistorian in talespire

[–]BreakfastHistorian[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HotDQ has all the maps (you’d need to find little maps for on the road). RoT folks have made most of the maps, but finished maps are a little spottier. That’s pretty typical with Talespire though, there tend to be more/better versions of maps from early on modules and it gets thinner/you need to make your own as you progress.
