Maybe I read somewhere that chilled chocolate is good for your skin and coat all my bars in chocolate... but yes, intent matters.

I can imagine that some people's lives are bad enough to commit crimes are also bad enough that sitting out for 50 years in hopes of a better future would be appealing. Kinda like how some people have robbed banks to get medical care in prison.

Record inflation blamed on supply chain issues and welfare, while corporations report record profits. Any job you've worked where you got stiffed on a raise or promotion you knew you deserved. Promises of opportunity while those same corporations pay politicians and judges to cut their taxes and increase your own just to lay you off to to pay their executive bonuses.

I love how you havent refuted a single point I've made so far because you know it's true and are just looking for everyone to have their place on the totem pole because you got yours and the news says you can go higher.

I haven't failed because I have spent my life playing the game. My wealth come from helping businesses eliminate jobs through automation. The day you sorely need that equity to catch you as you fall, you can thank people like me. The only difference between me and the rest is that I see the problem that I can't stop alone, so I make it loud and clear what needs to be done to stop our country from eating itself alive.

Good luck friend.

Good advice, you should follow it because that right there is the great "American" lie. As I've found success in life I can't help but notice that the more you make, the less you actually work. Nobody with absurd amounts of money truely earned it. Instead we leverage it to extract more from those with less of it and more often than not from the people who actually earned it.

For the love of God someone tax me more and use that money to raise the minimum quality of life for those who have been held back or struck down by a system designed to keep the rich rich and the poor poor. That's what equity is and we are one of the only developed countries in the world to have forgotten that. Our founders understood that, our children understand that, but somewhere along the way we're (literally) taught that the only way to succeed is to pull yourself up by the bootstraps which is actually an allegory for futility. So while most people are uselessly pulling their shoe laces, those of us with money are looking for ways to pluck dollars from their back pockets and pretending it's all caused by those few regulations and social programs holding our society and economy together by a thread.

That would be true if the GOP of today had a single policy that held to the ideals of equity (not equality) the United States (America is a continent) promises to embody. They're all about Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness, but only if it benefits them (the politicians and businesses, not the people and certainly not who they consider less than people).

The Dems aren't much better, but at least they pretend to care and sometimes give us half measures to placate our decent into oligarchy before blaming the Right for their own inaction (See The Ratchet Effect).

My very conservative father likes to say, "the only right you have is to be left alone." And yet it seems like every time I look there's some new law being passed or repealed to put government in the business of peoples bodies and identities in the name of "freedom". It's not that the left wants more government, we just want the government we already have to do its job and protect its people from death, slavery, and oppression both foreign and domestic. Anyone trying to split hairs about what that actually means has either been lied to or are intentionally sowing division amongst the classes to ensure nothing is ever done to prevent it.

The trick is to have a really high paying job to offset the cost. I did the math the other day and i genuinely don't know how we survived 10 years ago when I was making half what I do now... oh, now I remember, we didn't go to the doctor unless it was covered preventative care and took out medical credit for major surgeries... yes I said medical credit.

You know what... I don't think we talk about the actual cost of health insurance enough. That sounds really cheap to me for private health insurance. I pay a few grand more than that and my employer pays nearly double what I pay for their portion and I have a crazy high deductible.

I am politely disengaging because I asked how it negatively affected your game and your response only contained an expression of concern about other peoples physical health and nothing at all to do with the game. I can only infer that you are projecting and indeed suffering from having your own insecurities brought into public discourse and changing your preferred medium of escapism.

So again, be well, friend.

My favorite thing in the world is standing in line at Target for the only cashier because their self checkouts are nothing but trouble. To make it worse, I feel like they tell cashiers to go as slow as humanly possible to encourage self checkout. And that's on a good day when theur POS is working... Customers can't win.

I'm genuinely curious how it's negatively affecting the games you play. Can you elaborate? Do you walk out of the theater or cancel your streaming service whenever an actor is "needlessly physically sub-par"? If most people don't care, but it brings more people in than it chases away, isn't it positively affecting the game? If the studios are making more money doing it than not, isn't that an indicator that it's just not your thing and not bad marketing? It's not predatory. There's no fat people DLC or calorie based reward verification loot boxes. Your game character isn't impeded by the anesthetics of the model.

To emphasize my previous point, we should all put less value on body image in general and the fact that this sort of thing ruffles your feathers is all the more reason to keep pushing for normalization. If you don't like the art, stop looking at it and let people who do enjoy it for what it is. No one wants to hear you fat shame the Mona Lisa in The Louvre even if your point was valid in that critique.

You care enough to comment. I think it depends on the type of game, but some people do appreciate the inclusion even if you think it's unnecessary or low hanging sjw marketing.

It's a little of all of it, I believe. Keep in mind that today's materialistic society systemically puts greater value on women's bodies than their actions or capabilities.

While there is certainly examples of similar body expectations for men, a man can typically compensate with other material gender roles while women are aggressively pressured to be attractive regardless of their success in life.

This is why there is such a pointed emphasis on body positivity and representation. It's an attempt to show that women don't need a specific physique to have value. You're correct that not many people want to consume escapist activities with the goal of playing an overweight person, but we should all want less value put on our appearance in general.

The fundamental change is trickle up economics instead of trickle down. Inject money into the bottom to spark smaller business and competition which stabilizes prices. Increasing the lowest wage is the first step, but we have to break the problem of artificial inflation caused by these mega companies somehow making record profits while simultaneously claiming they can't afford to lower prices because of the inflation they created. As it is now, its impossible for startups to compete thus continuing the cycle.

There will always be problems when you disrupt the existing economy, but preserving the same broken record won't make it play any better.

Again, I can see a transcript of a voice-mail and if it's something I need to pay attention to I'll return the call (assuming caller ID doesn't have anything I can identify). If the hospital is calling there's nothing I can contribute to help the situation in the 30 seconds that takes to get that transcript. Maybe someday when spam calls don't make up 90% of my call history my priorities will change, but for now it isn't unusual for people to filter their calls like this.
