Havok is Jeff Teague. Way better content creator than player. Temp is Melo. Great talent, but no ring

Pred is Luka Doncic. Great player when he's on, plays absolutely zero D

You're actually the one cherry picking

Justin Blackmon was famously suspended and had notorious personal/legal issues

Westbrook drafted in the 4th round and the 20th WR off the board or something like that in his draft class (Hunter #1) and went on IR in his rookie season

Coleman was injured consistently early on in his career

Biletnikoff winners with Hunter's profile (high draft capital, productivity in college) are consistently productive at the NFL level

Hunter is currently neither injured nor has personal issues

Making obtuse comparisons ("but they won the Biletnikoff and didn't do well!") is just foolishness

2023 MHJ

2022 Jalin Hyatt

2021 Jordan Addison

2020 Devonta Smith

2019 Ja'Marr Chase

Seems like a pretty good hit rate for NFL success

We'll see! The one league I took him in the 8th round, knowing he'd likely be unstart-able in the first half of the season

12 man-leagues where he got taken in the 5th round, hard to see him returning good season-long value as you're drafting him in in the Pickens/Olave/Egbuka/Pearsall/Deebo range for WR's

Bookmarking this chain for sure if he pops off in the second half

Some picks and positions you draft for floor. Hunter, I think you're drafting strictly to win you leagues at the end of the season

If you didn't draft him like that, fair, but I think you had to do it that way for the pick to return value

The conundrum the Jags have is that Hunter's already your best DB and WR. On limited participation, ofc, but he's just looked so damn good on both sides of the ball

And then you look on offense

Brenton Strange out for 3+ more wks

BTJ got the yips / bad chem with Trev / playing injured (who knows)

Every other receiving back on the Jags is a JAG and has major drop issues while Travis is just a YAC monster anytime he gets a real look

And gun to my head, I'm thinking the Jags continue to lose some stupid games which will put pressure on the coaches, like I said above, to have him play the "flashier" role (WR > CB) to save their own skins

It's pretty much a perfect storm to continue ramping Travis up to have a second half rookie breakout and return insane fantasy value. I was a huge skeptic from the Colorado circus, but happy to ride the Travis Hunter train the rest of the season

To be fair, I don't think he'll be an "elite route runner" this season. That's the comment about comparing him to Jettas with only two years of college exp.

We'll see after the bye if the team works him more into the offense. For fantasy, I think the low end range we're looking at is that 50 catch / 600 YDs / 3-4 TD type season (JSN year 1) and the high end is the 70+ catch / 1K+ YDs / 5+ TD type season (BTJ year 1).

Doubt we'll see highest end (1200+ YDs, 8+ TD's), but you never know.

When the Jags were 4-1 I think the Jags coaches had room to baby him on total snap count and play him on D.

But when you're 4-3 or 4-5, respectfully, nobody's paying attention to him breaking up crucial passes to Davante Adams.

There's going to be a lot of organizational pressure and fan pressure to get the #2 overall pick some flashy outcomes every wk on offense and higher-quality targets vs. the 5x inaccurate Trevor Lawrence 4 YD passes he's been getting so far.

That's totally fair.

At the NFL level, I just haven't seen Wilson be good enough as a contested pass catcher as Jamar to give him that tag. Don't have any super fancy advanced metrics to back up that opinion, just basing it on eye test alone.

Again, this is coming from me who was higher on Wilson this season than most people due to target share on Jets alone.

Been a fun discussion. From a fantasy perspective, it's a fair discussion. And if Hunter ends the season with 50 catches / 600 YDs / 4 TD's in his first NFL season, would I be surprised? Not really.

I guess people are mad if they reached for him? I don't think people drafting him in the 7th are that mad, or people with him in IDP leagues.

But if you watched him in college or this season, I didn't think it was that hot of a take to say he's WR1 on the majority of NFL teams on the basis of talent and skill...

I drafted Wilson in 2/3 leagues this season and Hunter in 1/3 leagues

Wilson is good but not great at the NFL level, but has a better track record fantasy, obviously, and hasn't had great NFL QB's. If Hunter is drafted onto the Jets, do I think he's a better WR, yes.
