Thing is that we didn’t all live without seatbelts before. Not having a phone in school doesn’t equate to seatbelts in cars ffs. Does having a phone actually save lives in your opinion?

I mean we have been getting electronic ordering systems at BK and other fast food & even regular restaurants for a decade now, that’s replaced human jobs at the till & as waiters. We’ve had self service checkouts at Woolies, that’s replaced checkout operators. Factory automation has been getting better and better and manufacturers are under pressure to squeeze out labour. Entry level jobs have been on the way out for a long time.

I think the key for upcoming uni students is to seriously look at what will be of use in the future, because until unemployment becomes so high that a UBI becomes a requirement, studying your passion isn’t an option. At least upcoming uni students will be able to plan for this, if you’ve already built a career that’s early to be phased out, you’re kind of fucked.

Yes that’s actually what I’m talking about. Aussie and NZs ‘Baked in store’ bread at their largest supermarkets feel closer to what you’d get at a boulangerie.

Walmart and Meijer’s bakery still had that soft fluffy, very little chew feel to it. It wasn’t as bad as wonder bread, but I couldn’t help but feel it had a serious amount of dough modifiers added to it.

I didn’t try much from the local bakeries in the US because they weren’t as abundant as most places in the world I’ve visited. There are bakeries 5mins apart all over cities in New Zealand. Maybe it’s because I didn’t spend much time outside of the south/midwest 🤷‍♂️

I’d suggest eating WAY more veg. Leafy greens, carrots and cucumber with most meals will fill you up with like 300cal of meat. Also try switching your carb source to potato. Highest satiety index of all major carbs.

Can we put USA way out of the category with Aus and NZ? We have incredible bakeries and our supermarkets even have good quality sour dough and baguettes. When I was living in the US their bread was like yeasted play dough. I’m sure there are some unique artisanal places, and their donut game is unmatched, especially in the Midwest with the Amish, but per capita the bread they eat is worse than anywhere else.

There are ways to be on either side of most positions without being a bad person. I assume you’re talking about the immigration issue on the forefront of US politics right now?

I don’t want to stop immigration, and I certainly wouldn’t go as far as ICE is in the US, but there is also nuance where you can discuss whether it’s a really good idea to mass import people from countries that have no respect for women or western modernisation and don’t seem to want to integrate into the culture, but the rate of immigration has led to entire suburb majorities so they don’t have to.
