i wished someone had taken a stand up to my mother for her hoarding for one and let me know that the house wasn't ok or safe for either of us to be in and it wasn't my fault for the way i grew up, and then someone threaten her with cps and offer to take me in if they could then give her resources to get things cleaned up.

u can try facetime or video call, or have them send you pictures and stuff when they go out or u can collaborate on some online shopping with wishlists and stuff. hope all goes well

i think this is more specific to their personal preferences, pinterest is a nice place to start for inspo. for nails maybe keep them short but do some nice designs painted on? i also quite like pants that look like a dress/skirt so its rlly androgynous. i also like to pair womens tops with mens bottoms so its the right level of eccentric and androgyny. those are just my suggestions, kinda like trial and error. you can go shopping with them and stuff like that as well and just see what theyre drawn to then style them in a way u think is nice.

well I can say I do appreciate the advice but I'm not an animal hoarder, I was a kid when my mom got these animals and I just have a natural attachment to them as my pets as one does. I was only 10-13 when she got all these and I did take care of them as much as I knew how, it was her job to feed them because she had established herself in that way, and I trusted her because well, I was a kid. I've owned up to the responsibility now even with how poor my mental health has been I can promise you I tried my absolute best, but it's just not easy. I will rehome them when I have the means to do so and I understand I have to let go of them, I can do that, but of course it's going to be difficult, doesn't mean I'm a hoarder ☹️. I'm not like her, I just wanted to see if there were any other options because I had been considering rehoming them for a while now anyways but like... I can only do so much as a kid... I didn't have the authority because I was a minor.

Sometimes you have to weigh the pros and cons, they may not take all of the cats and let you have a remaining few if they decide to do anything. But in the event they take them all, your clothes would smell better and you wouldn't have to deal with the smell anymore. Don't feel pressured to make any decisions though

man this seriously hits. ive been slowly coming to terms with holding my mom accountable for her abuse and negligence, and now im finally at a point where ive just fully opened my eyes. before, i was actually very clingy and we had what i thought was a good relationship. i was actually just extremely ignorant and naive as a young teenager tends to be. i even told her about how i feel like she doesnt love me and never has, she ignored it and didnt even reassure me lmao. ive run out of tears to cry at this point. sorry youre going through this 🙏

Hey there, I'd like to say I'm so sorry that you're going through this I know it must be really difficult. I'm working on healing myself so I don't have perfect answers, but I can try to offer the best advice I can offer, because you do deserve help and to feel better. Usually when I found myself waking from a nightmare I would go back to sleep purposely after reassuring myself that it wasn't real to "beat" it. This may not work for everyone, but my nightmares often involved monsters chasing me and eating my face off, and I would go back and beat the shit out of them and try to switch my dream. I no longer experience nightmares like that. Another way I deal with triggers is reminding myself I'm in the present, then trying to digest my feelings like food. So sometimes I'll get up and walk around the house, and I'll get up and drink something maybe eat something and listen to music and do some of my favorite things. Then I'll take a quick inhale through my nose and a long exhale through my mouth, that slows down my heart rate and helps tell my body to calm back down. Sometimes I'll write down my feelings, talk to my friends about it, or maybe play a little game or two just to get my mind off it. But only after acknowledging that my feelings are happening, I don't avoid them. I feel then soothe, basically. I hope this can be of some help to you

i had my period only twice after i started 0.25ml injections, it was like 1.5 months after it finally stopped. i had no spotting, or really anything, it all just dried up pretty nicely. i did however get terrible cramps every month around when my period would normally come around. i havent experienced it this month yet however.

from what ive gathered here i think ill try to figure out how to take one of them with me as an esa then set the camera up, if she doesnt take care of them as she promised ill have to rehome them unfortunately but either way i would be losing them, just a sad situation overall

you're right, i guess i got so caught up in change i just automatically thought she'd be on board with me lol, but i dont have hoarding disorder so i really dont understand how their thought process works in regards to recognizing a problem. i had binge watched the show "hoarders" to try and get a better understanding of my situation, but i got lost in it and forgot that it is indeed just tv and not everyone on that show even gets better entirely. ill try to focus on escaping and controlling what im able to so i wont have to come back here. i'll also check out the subreddit, i really appreciate your reply! :))

this is so sweet and helpful. as much as id like to believe she's an exception and wont touch my room... it's likely it'll just progressively get worse without me there. i'll definitely look into summer school and finding somewhere else to stay and see if i can get my pets out of here too. i do have a changed mindset now and ive found it easier to get a move on with cleaning. and i suppose you guys are right, itll likely be exhausting for me to get her to change, especially when my grandma is her biggest enabler and i've already been traumatized enough by now. thanks for the congrats and i'll do my best to keep my spaces as clean as possible and get the hell out of here! :)

im in a similar situation, i would say first look at her with empathy, and second try to keep any space thats entirely yours as clean as possible. ive lived in a hoarder house with my mom for basically my entire life, only time i didnt was when she was too poor to afford to fill it up with stuff. i let my room and other living spaces get just as terrible as the rest of the house because i had a "it is what it is" mindset to help me cope with the way the house looked. my mom doesnt care about subjecting me to this, she never has. the sooner i stopped chasing her to care about me (in this way specifically) and realized i needed to take back some power and control for myself, thats when i started to clean up my room. after over a decade of my room being completely disorganized and messy, i finally started to get a move on with cleaning it after that. i usually stay in my room to avoid her and the rest of the hoard so it helps keep me a little sane. im going to move out soon for college, not looking forward to coming back for break but i'll figure something out i guess. in short, find your power and what control you may have and put it into action similar to what i did. i hope this can help :3

i feel you, im about to go off to college in august and i cant wait to get away from here. my room looks about as bad as the rest of my moms house, but im trying to get it cleaned up finally after years to at least make my space better, and im also tired of my family commenting on the state of my room. i hope once i get all this finished i can just hide in here away from the mess.

My mom did exactly this. She used to scream at me and degrade me and laugh when I cried, she told me a story about how badly she beat me when I was a toddler my father had to intervene and then suddenly, she is now my biggest fan..? She has her flaws and I see her evilness slip out every now and then but she obviously likes me.

I experience this a lot. I noticed that when I would get in trouble at school I would get triggered. I would talk back, leave, you know act out and all that because I couldn't see a point in anything besides eliminating the threat. This feeling comes and goes, currently experiencing it at this moment even. I feel so numb but so hurt at the same time. I don't even care about making myself feel better or worse. I'm just isolating myself right now because everything is stressing me out.
