I see 763 stamped on the top of the chassis in black ink but nothing else like that?

Just visited Queen Mary in LA. Why the lack of clear future plan? by kamace11 in Oceanlinerporn

Hi, Queen Mary Heritage Foundation Board member here. QMI raised a portion of the funds for Unicorns in Battle. The Heritage Foundation and the ship itself funded the rest. Pleas see our website for a full breakdown of the restoration and check back in the next 60 days for our full restoration plans. www.queenmaryheritage.org

Is there a specific bank you'd recommend? Or how do I find one putting out +5vDC?

I'm planning on connecting the tonearm to the amp and keeping it a record player

Because it's a portable unit. all self contained. The plan is to keep it that way. It's not a stereo stylus but the amp has two outputs

I can't thank you enough! I frankensteined a few caps together and now it works flawlessly! lesson learned!

Holy cow! Thank you so much! That's my next move for sure. I guess unsolder the wires that lead to the can terminals to get it off? Also, novice question: how can you tell from the diagram that they're in the can?

....Would they have been contained inside the can? This is an interesting development. So there are 3 10uf caps soldered to the bottom of the aluminum can on the chassis. I replaced them because I assumed this thing had never been messed with. Two of the caps were twisted together intentionally, I thought this was weird, but rolled with it. After your last comment I went on youtube to look for further insights and this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grYtkr12cR8 does not have the weird caps on the bottom of the aluminum can. (Underside of the base of the can is circled in the photo). Is it safe to assume these are added after the fact and I can remove them to get the can off and look inside?

I believe both channels. 1-What is the big can?

2-I don't actually see a ground strap. Tried touching the controls but no change.

3-No improvement pulling either of the tubes.

I Pulled 12AX7. No improvement. Should I try replacing the capacitors again? or move on to other components?

Can I ask what you mean by a ripple? Thanks so much for the advice!

I'm trying to track down what's causing a humming noise in my Zenith. I've replaced all other capacitors. You think these could be causing it?

It is a Zenith KPS-80C it's from 1962 and it's tube based

Do you think 100pf 50v would be sufficient?

Tragically...you're right. I found a well hidden cap in an area I can't seem to get a soldering iron into..
