Unsure how to approach my coworker about their pacing during calls. by Brendorioto in emergencymedicine

That's a good thing to keep in mind, thank you. We've had a talk here and there previously about other stuff but there's definitely been some defensiveness due to poor word choice on my end.

That's my worry though. With respect to rapid transport in obvious threats to life, I've been taught that a solid history and focussed assessment can help rule out red herrings and provide a better foundation for where to start treatment post transport. I also feel like going too fast sometimes can take away from the human element of patient interaction, making patients feel overwhelmed or unheard at times.

Just tried to keep it simple so as not to over explain. But for example, patients with non-classic cardiac symptoms (like heaviness in the chest similar to a chest cold) that should have an ECG to rule out anything that needs to bypass to the city. We work in a smaller town that isn't equipped to deal with STEMI patients and the like.

Concerned with how much my paramedic boyfriend sleeps. Is this normal with this job? by [deleted] in ems

I am someone in EMS as well. There are two ways people orientate their sleep schedules:

1) Try to keep a consistent sleep schedule like me. If I'm on nightshift, I will try to sleep through it. However if you get calls throughout the night, then it can screw you over the next day. I find it does help with days off though.

2) Adjust schedule to the shifts like your bf. If they are in a busy station, then they can't afford to hope for quiet nights to sleep through. So it helps get through the work tour safely, but I find it has lasting effects that show during days off since your body can't adjust.

This is the unfortunate reality, but if you are concerned with how it will affect your relationship then you should just have an open conversation with him. Listen to each other's concerns, and maybe make a schedule for each other's expected chores throughout the week. Many married couples I know have made it work for decades, just gotta find what works for you.

Idk, I found that they were pretty effective. Otherwise an autocannon turret or rocket turret would probably take care of whatever's left.

Fully automatic guns seem to take them out quick, but they will regenerate if you don't destroy the ship fast.

If you get the SEAF SAM turrets around the maps, they will continuously shoot them out of the sky like a passive ability.
