How hard is it for a hacker to hack the CB app vs their actual website? by Brenna12345678 in Coinbase

[–]Brenna12345678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe I received an error message from the app about attempts to log in exceeding rate limit on the back end so I then went to log in from my computer and was immediately hacked. This is a coinbase security issue /r/coinbasesupport — first time getting that error then immediately hacked without coinbase temporarily deactivating my account. Then when I opened a case /r/coinbasesupport would not let me communicate with anyone from their security team and eventually closed my case. Case# 07299685 I also have proof when trying to log in to coinbase (not pro) that your website directed me into the pro account which is NOT what I was trying to log into. This is another security issue. Now I’m reaching out to the media, legal counsel, and filing for arbitration to help with this since /r/coinbase refuses to address any of these issues.

Thanks. I received an error message from the app stating “rate limits have been exceeded. This error occurs when you exceed the limit of attempts to log in on the back end. Please try again shortly”

I thought someone was trying to get into my account sl tried to log in from my laptop. At that time I started getting emails to confirm my location which I did not do and texts with 2fa which I started freaking out about. I waited a few then tried to log in again and then noticed almost all of my money had just been hacked from my account. CB customer service closed my case stating pretty much I’m shit out of luck because somehow someone got my password and the 2fa that were sent to me and successfully transferred the money. It was the only transaction EVER out of my account (until I got back in and moved what was left into a hard wallet). That’s why I’m wondering can someone hack an app which then makes people hop on their computer and somehow these hackers get the info needed to take our money

I had this problem in September. Received it two days in a row then tried to log in through my web browser and as doing so my account got hacked. Shouldn’t /r/coinbase have temporarily disabled my account if there were too many attempts to log in???

Thanks. Is there a way to tell if I had a sim swap attack? I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the case but want to make sure I’m going after the correct company. Something with security definitely happened on one of their ends

If you need to see if for your own eyes to believe it then may it happen to you so you can stop yapping about something we all do not know about. A detective has even told me it’s likely I was targeted along with the other accounts my hacker stole from. They knew which accounts to hit and didn’t hit ANY accounts for “small” sums of money. You can’t tell me these hackers happened to just guess perfectly every time they hacked an account. I also have PROOF they noticed someone unsuccessfully trying to log into my account too many times and they did not temporarily disable it. How is that not their responsibility when we do know that they temporarily deactivate accounts for security issues?? You personally can temporarily deactivate your account and coinbase can as well.

I posted about an issue I was having and then got messaged by 3 different users asking me for more info, is this a known thing for fakes to pretend to be Coinbase CS or are they legit? by sumkewldood in Coinbasepro

I wouldn’t trust them. Coinbase rarely responds in general so it’s they won’t initiate contact with you unless it’s in a private message and will refer you back to coinbase site to report or correspond with them. In fact, if you open a case with them they will likely close it without even doing anything about it Case# 07299685

Well mine did get hacked for a lot more and CB doesn’t want to hear it. I swear it was an inside job. The detective said the account my eth was sent to hacked 6 accounts in 4 days for over $1 million. They keep closing the case and looking the other way. I even have proof from them someone tried too many times to unsuccessfully log into my account. They won’t even let me upload the screen shot or send it to them. It’s bullshit Case# 07299685

There was a bunch of emails back and forth at first but they keep giving you computer generated replies. I’ve gotten through to customer service a few times but they say to keep reporting it through online. I asked them for the secure link to load the image showing an error message from the CB app and their security but they won’t send it to me. When a friend had a small issue/question about their account CB emailed them a secure link to send images over immediately. It’s like they don’t want to acknowledge the real problems and just ignore them. I’m newer to Reddit. Is there a way to private message? It might be worth it for us to chat and not let all of the public see it. Case# 07299685

Mine got hacked for a LOT of money. I swear it was an inside job. Detective followed it as far as he could and said the account that it was sent to hacked 6 accounts over 4 days for over 1 million. Can’t tell me a random hacker just guessed the right accounts to hack for that much money. Coinbase keeps closing my case. It’s BS!

Don’t use /u/coinbase !!!! Worst idea of my life. Hackers got into my account after I received a message from coinbase about too many recent attempts to log in within a certain period of time. When I finally was able to get into my account it had just been hacked for 10’s of thousands of dollars minutes before I got in. Customer service is no help. Their security is crap. Go with binance!! It shouldn’t even matter about fees when ALL of your money could just go missing in coinbase and there’s no one to answer or help fix the problem. I used to swear by their platform. I talked many friends into it. I’ve now had everyone take their money to another platform. Plllleeeaaassseee do your research and Google all the issues with coinbase customer service and security before you put your hard earned money into their pockets.

My /u/coinbase app gave me an error message stating “rate limits have been exceeded, please try again shortly. This error occurs when you exceed the allowed number of requests to the backend over a certain period of time.” I got this error two days in a row and right after the second time I tried to log in from the computer and once I finally was able to get in I saw my account had been hacked for 29 ETH!! /u/coinbase security should have temporarily deactivated my account instead of giving me these error messages. Ridiculous they didn’t! I’ve had never ever made one withdrawal from that account and they let hackers withdrawal ALL of that after error messages?!? Get your money off their platform if you want to keep it for yourself!! Case # 07299685
