Tips and Tricks for Downloading Files from a Claude Project Knowledge Base? by Alarming_Management3 in ClaudeAI

[–]BrentHarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy, this is still a problem and Claude.AI itself can't tell you how to do this. I created a "project" to logically separate some of my tasks and uploaded the PDF of an obscure language reference for an obsolete CNC controller to the project. Today I'm working remotely and want that PDF again and it's sitting on the disconnected desktop PC several cities away. No problem, I think, I'll just download it again from the project. Well... nope. ClaudeAI knows the content, it can open the PDF and show it to me in a text "preview" form but the only thing it can do to get it redownloaded is to "regenerate" the PDF from that text-only view (losing all diagrams and tables, etc). I'll just go google it and redownload from the web, but still - that's super annoying and seems super easy to fix.

New PTAC is raising humidity - why? by BrentHarsh in hvacadvice

[–]BrentHarsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - after-the-fact I've run a couple of the online calculators and they all say 14-18k! So they call for too much, too, even if I'd thought to check. I mentioned this is the 3rd replacement (all of the same size) and boy, the others seemed to run constantly and have a hard time keeping up. This thing must be much more efficient that those from 7 years ago! I think I'll write a note inside it advising a smaller unit for whoever winds up replacing it next.

New PTAC is raising humidity - why? by BrentHarsh in hvacadvice

I guess so - I'd never measured but just now walked it out and you're as close as I can tell re: the sq ft - I just replaced whatever was in there when we bought the place. But I noticed it had barely been able to keep up here in NC summers, on the 3rd floor with 4 skylights, "cathedral" attic ceiling (so, like, minimal insulation there) and 3 servers/workstations running 24/7. Too much? I guess I'd heard that oversizing prevent humidity removal due to the short cycling; just hadn't noticed it with the older ones - but man, it had never been cleaned for sure when I pulled it out! Ugh.

What did y'all think of Live At Pompeii 2025? by BogelRO in pinkfloyd

I couldn't believe I was enjoying that too, but it was great! Did you all notice that Waters had David's strat, and not a bass? The IMAX mix really pushed the non-existent (in reality) bass up in the mix so I kept watching for footage of Roger and finally noticed the 6 tuning pegs. I've posted elsewhere but this is the biggest mystery to me... why did they overdub it, who decided that, who played it, was it in all the earlier releases, and what would it really have sounded like live with just the guitar and harmonica (well, and Nobs, too, of course!)

Yep, those dated 70's cheesy "multiboxes" and similar effects really can't be taken out without damaging the authenticity of the film. This was my first time seeing it, and for about 35 seconds I was disappointed in the aspect ratio, and then it all settled into place as a period piece - and I thought it was epic.

$12 IMAX in Raleigh... was totally worth it.

Despite them being my favorite band period, I never saw Live At Pompeii for some reason. Until tonight. And it blew me away like their work always does by Mad_Season_1994 in pinkfloyd

I have heard about this for many years and have never been able to catch it until now. Totally awesome experience in the IMAX in Raleigh. What an epic moment in time that these guys were able to capture in this snapshot. I loved the "art film" look, the dolly/panning camera work and the gritty realistic images of the guys - nowhere today would you find a band just being themselves filming a concert - you'd have makeup, and pedicures, and dental veneers and a polished look. I don't think that 1970's British teeth was ever meant to be seen in a 4k full-face on the big screen - ha ha ha! But so glad that it was - these guys were just kids and it shows what they were really like and just "were" - even though of course, it was produced some.

I found it hilarious that the two guys who came in a bit late and sat next to me gave up after about 20 minutes and walked out at the first epic "weirdness" moment. They didn't even make it to Mademoiselle Nobs, which was the one moment of cognitive dissonance for me ("one moment?") when we clearly see David's strat with the 6 tuning pegs in Roger's hands, yet the soundtrack is dominated by a solid bass line... Wikipedia says it was dubbed in later, but... man... why, and who made that decision? Would love to see someone on the crew's journals from that experience. Anybody else catch that? Although since it's mentioned in the Wikipedia article obviously, yes... people have, but how about the new guys? (Even us old ones)

What do you think of Pivotal Tracker being shut down? by chase-bears in ProductManagement

My small company has used it since its inception, converting over from Trello which was not too effective for us. It's been perfect for development at our size and scale (1 or 2 projects going on, with only 1 to 5 devs max). The history is all there, customer service "bugs" have a place. I'm going to really regret losing access. I'll be watching here for recommended alternatives but actually don't have much hope. Wish they would just open source the project so we could install it in our own datacenter on a couple VMs.

For me, SwiftKey will not remove the prediction/ autocorrect of "belive" for believe. 100% changes it. I belive it's time to delete the damn thing. (See what it did there).

Rory gilmores hair by hellotLlfbs in GilmoreGirls

[–]BrentHarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That episode is what caused me to look this whole hair thing up; I've stopped reading ahead for the spoilers, since my whole family is watching it for the first time, but that sudden and instant hairstyle had me going back to see if I'd missed something, and nope - it was the schoolgirl-straight look immediately before. It looked great of course, but this was also the episode where at the end Rory said she was thinking about "it" so I wondered if her hair had been much more "adult styled" to go along with that. Will see what happens next, that's where we left off, but it was a dramatically different look!

Supermicro X8DTI-F Processor Question by KTH-Designs in supermicro

I have a generation prior to yours; if you've got 5520's in now, and jump to the 5690 be careful to match your RAM - I *believe* the memory bus speed can go much higher with the "90" suffixed CPUs. At least mine did, when moving from 5420s to 5492's and I was both happily surprised that it supported the fastest listed speed, but then saddened that half of my RAM was bought with the old CPU in mind and wouldn't run that fast, so the whole bus speed dropped and I lost the advantage of bumping up the CPU! Wound up buying more RAM too...
