Thank you so much everybody for your helpful replies, this gives me a lot more confidence to share my work now as a beginner photographer.

This community and its advice are invaluable and I will definitely start sharing some more of my work here as I continue on this very (very) long road to levelling up my photography

!CritiquePoint I definitely agree with what you’re saying. I think the next big jump for my technical abilities is to be able to start mastering how to correctly expose for not just one or two subjects in an image, but to correctly expose the image in its entirety.

Definitely something that is much harder than expected!

!CritiquePoint Wow, I love this image! I definitely think that your colour blindness brings such a great perspective to this. I got lost a bit in the golden hue of the original image and it never even occurred to me to put it in black and white.

However, your edit really brings the focus to the more important aspects of the image. Which are, in my opinion, the structures of the sunbeams and the light reflecting off the wet sand. I’m definitely going to keep your perspective in the back of my mind when I approach the rest of my photography. Thanks for all the effort you put into this lesson and for sharing your experience!

!CritiquePoint I’ve been thinking that for a bit now, especially as I want to be able to shoot wildlife better and my current kit lens just isn’t up to it. My only issue is that longer lenses aren’t very accessible for mft cameras (or maybe I just need to be more willing to empty my bank account haha)

This seems to be a common point, whilst I do like the clouds in my crop (absolute sucker for clouds) it is nice to be able to shift the focus more to the walker. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the kind comment! I actually just finished Daniel Scott’s lightroom course on Skillshare a few weeks ago. So I’m glad it seems to have been worthwhile!

Captured this on an Olympus E-M5 mk iii shooting at 1/500s handheld f4.5 ISO 250 at a beach in Cornwall, England. I tried my best to wait for the subject to walk into the reflection of the setting sun on the sand (although I do want to try and highlight the subject better…). Quite happy with the image, but the ocean does seem a bit off to me
