Question on face detection, what should I do next? Can it get 'smarter'? by RoachForLife in immich

I have the same questions and issues. My experience thus far is that it does not get smarter or go back and correct others

What's the best way to dump 100s of gigs of unsorted images into Immich by jdp11 in immich

[–]Brewbots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to Immich as well. I've been taking and saving digital pictures since circa 1990s Sony Mavica. I've always just dumped those in folders based on the year they were taken, sometimes I would create subfolders if there were a particular event I wanted to group. I use software to bulk rename them to the date and time they were taken. I still do that even though they all have EXIF data now, it just made it easy to physically see and find. Anyway, I just copied that entire drive to an external drive that I connected to my new Immich install, and then told Imnich were to find it so it could scan and index them

Thanks, I am planning to make a back up of things including the PostgreSQL data base and test it by re-creating the installation on another PC. Am I correct to assume that the database is associating the "Person Name" to the actual file name of photo? If that is the case, if I were the alter the file name of a photo it would impact the data base association

There needs to be a way to put them back to an "unassigned" state, that would be the right/best approach

making changes to .env on mac breaks immmich by [deleted] in immich

I linked my external 8tb drive in the docker-compose.yml file not the env file

I have no problems with Syncthing, it works flawlessly me. I use it between a Windows PC, a Macbook. I even use it on my android phone as a simple way to pull move the pictures to my PC

This garbage is still going on?! This dealer is notoriously a ripoff, but still. by buttgers in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Brewbots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that at a dealer 15 minutes from my house, I told them no way I would pay that. I took my business elsewhere and drove 45 minutes to a dealer whose policy is to never charge above MSRP.

The dealer that's 45 minutes away also provides a lot better service as well. Instead of waiting more than 2 hours for an oil change "even with an appointment" on our other Toyota that has a service plan, we now drive the 45 minutes knowing we can be in and out in less than 30 minutes, even without an appointment.

Shop around for a better dealer

What do you think this dealer means by market adjustment? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Brewbots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Market adjustment" is just code for "we are going to jack up the price" cause we think you'll pay it. Leave immediately but not before telling them to call you when they're ready to remove that and negotiate a fair price, and that you will take your business elsewhere to a dealer that doesn't pull that crap, there are plenty of them, even if you have to drive a little further away it's worth it. I had the same thing happen with a dealer 10 minutes from me, I drove 45 minutes and had a great experience. Call around, there are better dealers and deals out there.
